Incomes Lost for Greenville Residents

Mr. Mumford,

Ask Ray Humphrey's how many of KDH Hospital employees he promised would be employed and are now employed at DRMC or the "West Campus?" What happened to the contract employees? None were hired and they went elsewhere. I cannot find even 6 full time employees of KDH that ended up keeping a job within DRMC's system.

The rest went to Bolivar County, Chicot County and Home Heath or just stayed home like my wife. We lost over $50,000 in income for the last 3 years. Humphrey's lied to the KDH staff and to the DDT.

Bill
"Somewhere South of Chicago"
Greenville, MS 38701

Many lies were told to both sides during the merger of the two hospitals. Ray stated that "consultants" had been hired to interview all personnel in "duplicate" positions and that they would select the most qualified. What a joke! There were no "consultants"; only Ray's spies who he had hand picked to dupe the public into believing his conquest was in the best interest of health care.

Actually, Ray bought a lot of talent when he purchased KDH... excellent nurses and business professionals who all knew what it takes to run a safe and profitable hospital. But...did Ray welcome them into the fold and seek their advice and direction for the failing DRMC? NO! He systematically set out to destroy the careers of anyone who had been a supporter of KDH.

Three years later, scores of jobs and (in Bill's case alone) over $150,000 in wages have been lost to Greenville residents whose jobs were ended by the hands of this tyrant. Adjoining counties revel as OUR nurses and allied health professionals choose $4.00 gas over autocracy!

To be honest, Ray has no dog left in this fight... and perhaps no fight at all. He has conquered his most hated competitor, David Fuller (KDH CEO), demoralized and humiliated the staff of both hospitals and ruined a once thriving health care community. HE is the victor; however, there are very few "spoils" left to reap. A prudent man would offer his resignation in the face of his obvious public defeat. An astute leader would heed the waring signs of ultimate change and bow out gracefully.

Ultimately, Ray's resignation will either be offered... or demanded. For now Ray, it is your choice.

Forthright, please forgive my ignorance. I have heard some crazy things about DRMC lately. I don't know what to believe anymore.

Rumor has it that the purchase of KDH and then the bankruptcy of DRMC was the overall plan of the DRMC administrator from the beginning, in order for DRMC to be sold at a bargain price to a "For Profit Health Organization". Won't this result in the elimination of more health care jobs in this area? I have heard the for-profit hospitals are bad about cutting all workforce to a bare minimum. Are the hospital board members and the Washington County Supervisors part of this alleged scheme? What is really going on?

Concerned but confused Citizen

The DRMC drama has been tossed around too long. Since Ray Ray thinks this blog is telling lies and many of the postings are obviously from employees, it is time for the hospital board to answer directly to the employees. Ray Ray, the employees want open meetings with the hospital board members. And no, since the employees cannot attend the board meetings, the administration should not be in attendance at these open meetings.

I believe it would be worth the time and effort of the board members to have these open meetings. Especially since in their eyes nothing is wrong other than disgruntled employees.

Time to set the record straight..

Anonymous said...

Yeah, I "really" want to be the first to attend that meeting. Do you not think that the board members have heard? Far too much has happened, too many bad reports, for them not to know. No? if not, come on Bill Shultz, check it out. I think that you are, or use to be, a trustworthy man. I for one, need my job too badly to appear on the "sign in sheet" for that meeting. All we can hope for is that Ray and Allyson will get a better offer elsewhere, and move on.

Anonymous said...

Are you kidding? Money is flowing freely at DRMC! What other offer could beat that? You won't find my name on that "sign in sheet" either. I will just leave Greenville and find work elsewhere.
Depressing, isn't it.

Anonymous said...

It seems that the policies of Greenville public offices and services is all too much the same. Extortion against the employees to continue the reign in power. Are their none who can stop the madness?

Anonymous said...

Administration may not be in attendance but they will certainly have their many spies present at the meeting. Any employee who does not support the current administration will be out of a job or ostracized to the point of resigning within 24 - 48 hours.

I think the Hospital Board and the Washington County Supervisors should have a meeting with the tax payers of Washington County. I, as a taxpayer, also feel a thorough investigative audit should be done by a firm not associated with Washington County or DRMC. Who does the "annual audits" at DRMC anyway? DRMC accountants? Some local firm, year after year? A church buddy of the administrator?

I also feel many of the "created jobs" need to be reviewed and determined cost effective, necessary, and / or appropriate for that person's credentials, or lack of, I should say.

The top-heavy administration needs to be "whittled down" tremendously.

The Wage and Hour Bureau needs to spend some time interviewing employees and reviewing employees' salary records (and not the ones picked by the hospital).

It is time to spend our tax money wisely rather than frivolously. Remember, the millions that were borrowed will eventually have to be paid back. Is there an extended plan for that? Does the administrator think the HUD loans will be waived? The administration and the hospital board have been on one helluva spending spree that needs to stop immediately. I am beginning to question whether the hospital board can even read financial reports, much less balance a budget. I can't believe that the entire board has been taken in by this administrator's cunning and persuasiveness.

Just one more thing. I despise the new DRMC logo and slogan. He is making DRMC and Greenville the laughing stock of Mississippi.

God help us and our county!

I use to enjoy reading the Delta Scoop, but have grown completely wary of the site, since it's sole focus as of late appears to be the fate of DRMC. Again, if all the concerned citizens on this site would band together and demand action things might change. Better yet, retain legal counsel to file a writ of quo warranto and/or writ of prohibtion/mandamus, etc against the hospital board via the Board of Supervisors demanding that laws and regulations be followed. Also, a petition drive might be in order to vote on the direction of the hospital, 25 percent of the electorate is all it takes to get measures on the ballot.

Since when have law & regulations been synonymous with ethics? One can be within the law and still be unethical and deceitful.

The petition drive is an excellent suggestion. Thank you for the advice.

For interested Delta Scoop Readers, Greene County, MS, recently conducted a successful petition drive, were the electorate voted on how the local hospital was to be managed and, which company was best suited. Concerned citizens there contracted with a company, I believe out of Jackson to help in marshalling the signatures.

Why does the DDT remain silent on this issue. Forthright must be right that they are protecting one of their largest advertizers. I know they read the DS daily and know what is going on at DRMC. I thought newspapers were supposed to investigate and seek the truth for their readers. I guess Ray has bought the silence of our local newspaper just like he has the boards of supervisors and trustees.

I bet the Clarion Ledger and the Commercial Appeal might be interested. I can see the headlines now. Pictures too.

I don't have any specific contact information, in regards to the company used to solicit the signatures; however, someone should contact the Greene County Herald. I believe they were instrumental in getting the petition drive going. The paper is located in Leakesville, MS, and is published by Russell and John Turner. Also, the Hattiesburg American might have the info archived on their website, which references the company used.

Okay, as much as I don't like old Ray, that horse has been beaten long enough, for now. These folks who work for him have to find a way to take action, or just stand by idly, til something "worst of all" happens to make a change.

Meanwhile, I got this in the e-mail and I think it is worth sharing, written by Bill Brown. Plus it will change the subject for a while.
________________________________
The Obama Tidal Wave

We are witnessing a political phenomenon with Barack Obama of rare magnitude.
His speeches have inspired millions and yet most of his followers have no idea of what he stands for except platitudes of 'Change' or that he says he will be a 'Uniter'.
The power of speech from a charismatic person truly can be a powerful thing. Certainly Billy Graham had charisma and both his manner of speech and particularly the content changed millions.
On the extreme other hand, the charisma of Adolph Hitler inspired millions and the results were catastrophic.
Barack Obama certainly is no Hitler or a Billy Graham, but for many Americans out there feeling just like a surfer who might be ecstatic and euphoric while riding a tidal wave, the real story is what happens when it hits shore .
Just Some of What Defines Barack Obama:
· He voted against banning partial birth abortion.
· He voted no on notifying parents of minors who get out-of-state abortions.
· Supports affirmative action in Colleges and Government.
· In 2001 he questioned harsh penalties for drug dealing.
· Says he will deal with street level drug dealing as minimum wage affair.
· Admitted marijuana and cocaine use in high school and in college.
· His religious convictions are very murky.
· He is willing to meet with Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez, Kim Jung Il and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
· Has said that one of his first goals after being elected would be to have a conference with all Muslim nations.
· Opposed the Patriot Act.
· First bill he signed that was passed was campaign finance reform.
· Voted No on prohibiting law suits against gun manufacturers.
· Supports universal health-care.
· Voted yes on providing habeas corpus for Guantanamo detainees.
· Supports granting driver's licenses to illegal immigrants.
· Supports extending welfare to illegal immigrants.
· Voted yes on comprehensive immigration reform.
· Voted yes on allowing illegal aliens to participate in Social Security.
· Wants to make the minimum wage a 'living wage'.
· Voted with Democratic Party 96 percent of 251 votes.
· Is a big believer in the separation of church and state.
· Opposed to any efforts to Privatize Social Security and instead supports increasing the amount of tax paid.
· He voted No on repealing the Alternative Minimum Tax.
· He voted No on repealing the 'Death' Tax.
· He wants to raise the Capital Gains Tax.
· Has repeatedly said the surge in Iraq has not succeeded....
· He is ranked as the most liberal Senator in the Senate today and that takes some doing.
If your political choices are consistent with Barack Obama's and you think that his positions will bring America together or make it a better place, then you will probably enjoy the ride and not forward this Email. If you are like most Americans that after examining what he stands for, are truly not in line with his record, it would be prudent to get off the wave or better yet, never get on, before it comes on shore and undermines the very foundations of this great Country. We have limited time to save America or the Supreme Court as we know it.
Inaction is action.
If you agree this is important, pass it on. The mainstream media will not do it for you!

Bill Brown
MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!

re:new topic

In my personal opinion, worthwhile forwards are about as rare as hens teeth. It is hardly a secret (read as: the media pundits discuss it non-stop) that for McCain to win he will have to lean very heavy presenting himself as the "safe choice" and work the edges to make Obama look like a sweet but dangerous option.

Candidates always focus most of their energy on creating a concept in peoples minds before trying to rally them behind a specific piece of legislation. Case in point, can anyone name McCains top ten agendas off the top of your head? Which way he voted on any ten set of issues? No?

I'm not an expert on Obama's history either but even I can spot severel items in that list that were explained long ago and are nothing more than rumors, half bakes, and dead horses.

And why the need for all these lists? Isn't there one issue that is worth discussing in and of itself without a 25 item yarn?

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not upset with the last post but just this trend in general. Your reminder to focus on issues over glamor is very important

But please allow an alternative, the cadidates to put forward their positions ... just not when giving sound bytes to the media. Any discerning voter can get all the info for himself at none other than their respecitive capaign websites ... that and setup a filter to move everything with "FWD:", in it, to a folder maked trash.

You know what I agree with your points and I will defend your right to make them. Which of the candidates would defend this country??

Even the Muslims are now ticked off at Obama and his "schmooze" style. They thought they were his chosen people, the two muslim women proved differen.

My concern from what I have read and heard first hand is Obama has all these major tax increases and extremist plans promised. Our economy can not stand that, we are already overloaded with enough debts to pay for the government and now with gas costs so high, that will destroy families. Barack and McCain are just one person each, neither can "promise" anything alone. Without Congress and the House of Representatives supporting either of them, who might make it to office, they will be nothing more than lame duck presidents.

Obama makes scarey promises that if for some reason came true, would destroy this country and all that it stands for.

I am not a big fan of McCain totally, but I do believe he has shown and still believes in this country and ALL that it stands for....so of the two, he will get my vote.

What about some positive investigations into DRMC and other challenges in our own community?? The Washington Avenue plan is a complete waste of tax payer money. If you car does not fall apart or into a pothole traveling from Hwy 82 to the "new Washington Ave", then you will find a fine four lane street to the casinos if the job is ever completed, although you will have no place to park along the way. Where does the casino money go? The Greenville Public School system is in need of a new superintendent, new ideas, etc. The VC bureau is looking like a soap opera as is the New Greenville Christian School. It seems that the new headmaster that was hired last year has resigned and moved back to Texas. The new football coach moved back to where ever he came from. The pastor at Emammnuel Baptist Church who "pushed" his congregation into some kind of alliance with the school may send one of his children to another school in the fall. Even the churches in Greenville are in a slump. The Greenville mall has as many empty stores as occupied ones. Greenville has way too many negatives going on. We need to deal with them and move on to something positive for the entire Delta region. Greenville should be the place to go for dining, shopping, and entertainment for the Delta, Arkansas and north Louisiana. We need some new, innovative leadership in these areas. Let's work to make Greenville a place that we can be proud of again!

Anonymous said...

You are preaching to the choir. Many people try to make changes and get knocked backwards in their efforts then shut down and shut out, until they have no choice; but to give up.

Leadership??? What leadership? Don't you know there are dictators about? Pay attention, Greenville has a black cloud over it and unless the people get out and vote some of the useless people out of office IN A LITTLE OVER THREE YEARS or raise cain to get them removed from their offices....nothing will be better, things will just continue to get worse.

Look at the DDT Soundoff from a couple of days ago. There was a comment about a very positive force in Greenville: the renovation of E.E. Bass as an arts center. That's a really great thing!

Anonymous said...

Yes, it is and it has taken years to get so far, but unfortunately, it is one of very few positives of Greenville......very few. We have so many more negatives to be overcome, none will be improved, without jobs and a thriving economy.

The crime rate is rising quickly with fewer jobs, expensive groceries, gas and utilities. The criminals are getting braver and more desperate. We are a Welfare City! If the few tax paying folks and businesses keep leaving, then what???? Major troubles to come, that is the only answer.

I suggest each of you readers start contacting our Mayor, City Council reps., County Supervisors, your Chamber of Commerce/Development staff, Convention/Vistors bureau, every elected, hired or appointed leader in a position to do good for this region and demand actions to be taken to get us all back on track fast, before we boot them out and find leaders ready to fight for our city, county and region. I am tired of waiting for the false promises of these present leaders who ignore, avoid, scam, rip off, waste tax dollars on being tourists instead of soliciting industries, etc., for their own personal gains. Enough! These folks said that they wanted these jobs and said that changes would come, they neglected to say the changes would not be good ones!

Re: New Topic

Fair points. My personal frustrations with Obama is his weaker healthcare revision plan. It is high time we quit spending so much of our health care money lining the pockets of those that have nothing to do with healthcare. It doesn't take a whole lot of imagination. Several European countries have had it in use for decades and the results have been great both in that sector as well as others such as providing for the elderly and impoverished. I keep hearing "well for all that our system is one of the best in the world." Compared to what, Somolia? There are better systems out there and our society deserves better.

Second, I would like to hear something from SOMEBODY in the Fed government about our long term goals in Iraq. Our situation there, in my view, is very similar to that of Germany, Japan, and Korea. That is a, remaining by invitation, peace force with our own US security purposes also in place. Why all this talk of cutting and running out of Iraq when we never left those countries? Shouldn't we move from them first? Certainly they are more internally/locally stable and ready for use to leave, comparatively speaking. Instead of clearly defined purposes we get a lot of campaign rhetoric of "we are there to fight on" "we are pulling out immediately".

Of the two I'm more nervous of Obama's "we are pulling out" and would almost vote for McCain on this point alone.

My displeasure with McCain is that he feels like more of the same with Bush. I actually liked Bush but am frustrated with his inability to perform diplomatically on the world stage. McCains snarly attitude and odd mannerisms (seen the New Orleans video on youtube? ) are going to continue that trend. Ultimately I feel that the lack of diplomacy can be equally detrimental to our countries health. I feel that we are a great nation and do a lot of the right initiatives including some of the most wide spread educational, developmental, and humanitarin projects. Sadly if that is never appreciated by the world community then we are winning the battle but losing the war.

I was reading an article recently on S. Korea. The older generation is almost convinced the US can do no wrong. We were the war weary country that came and stood with them, taking huge casualties to push back the dictatorship that was taking over. THey know this becuase they lived through it. But when asked who the SKorea number one enemy was the Korean youth said "the US." They are totally confused being fed a lot of mixed messages about the US being the cause for division in their country and unfairly representing them on the world stage. This is the generation that will be in control of the coutry very soon and will sadly be victims of a false/mixed message that we never diplomatically corrected.

WHAT's the scoop on Greenville Christian school? Who is going to be the new headmaster? I wish they would close and join WS so we could have their money and students.

Signed,

Anonymous said...

I would think that parents of those kids would chose St Joe first because of the religious aspect.

Anonymous said...

The religious aspect? For starters, Washington School is hardly populated by heathens! My children's elementary teachers began every day with a Bible story, and prayer is very welcome in school life. Secondly, the very charismatic Emmanuel Baptist followers at GCS are not likely to ally themselves with the Catholic Church! (They could never be that open-minded.) No, if GCS is indeed ailing and is considering closing their doors, I predict that the ever-dwindling student body will be pretty evenly distributed among Riverside, Deer Creek, St. Joe, and Washington School. And the "scholarship" athletes will return to the schools that they left.

Anonymous said...

GCS is NOT closing. EBC has stepped out of the picture. I for one would not send mine to WS or St. Joe. As for the Christian aspect. That is the responsibility of the parents to give their children religion, not the school. It is a plus if they get it, but not the schools responsibility.

Anonymous said...

EBC has stepped out?? Are you sure? Because I haven't heard that! When did that happen? And, I wouldn't send my kids to GCS. The academics are less than adequate and it seems as if it is a matter of time until they must shut their doors.

Anonymous said...

Anonmymous 04:34:

Do you have experience with either school? Academics at Washington and St Joe surpass every school in the delta.

Anonymous said...

I agree that the academics at WS and St. Joe are excellent. I, too, want to know if EBC is out of the picture. Church attendance has dropped dramatically since the link with GCS.

Anonymous said...

I never said the academics were not excellent. As a matter of fact they are. It is just not my school of choice. EBC stepped out in March.

Anonymous said...

How do you know that EBC stepped out in March? The church members have not been told that, although there was a meeting, but they have been kept "in the dark" about the whole thing. Will that affect the school positively or negatively?

Anonymous said...

A letter was sent out by the now leaving headmaster of Greenville Christian announcing several things, one of which was that EBC has stepped out. I call it divorce, they call it stepping out. Whatever.

Anonymous said...

Yes, many EBC'ers have left because of Greenville Christian School. The new pastor was determined that GCS was his "ministry". He is not what EBC needed...and it shows in attendance. The once thick crowd that Rip Noble drew has become very sparse indeed.
