Predators Among Us

"Concerned in Leland" writes:

Latest scandals from the wonderful "Leland School District":

A couple of weeks ago Dr. Richards had her latest cover up. She is always covering up something to keep Leland School District's reputation gleaming. This time it is not the inappropriate shenanigans of adults during the school day in front of the little students. This time we had a teacher say grossly improper sexual things to a female student.

This was not the first charge of this kind against him. He even supposedly has sexually related charges against him in his own hometown which is not Leland. Dr. Richards, as usual thinks she is the judge and the jury and instead of alerting the legal authorities that Leland Schools has a sexual predator among us, she did her own investigation and apparently decided it would be wise to let this man resign and keep this all very quiet so his and Leland's reputation will not be hurt.

Now he says he has offers from other school districts and since his reputation is untarnished he can go somewhere else and prey on other young girls. When he got found out though, he apparently blew the whistle on all his coworkers that are doing the same kind of stuff. The students are even talking about another male teacher who bought a female student a cell phone so that they can text and talk privately.

It seems that this is not only going on at Leland School Park but at Leland High School also. It's all being kept very hush hush. But Dr. Richards is true to form and wants nothing to hurt the reputation of HER level five school district. It seems that she has crossed the line this time and put students in danger trying to further her own agenda. She has allowed so much to go on at Leland School Park this year, putting first graders to 8th graders in harms way.

The principal there is apparently also unconcerned about all the inappropriate stuff going on right under her nose. How do they continue to get away with all this. Somebody with some power has got to stop them!

Once again, these are serious charges leveled against the LSD Superintendent. There are strict laws against any form of harassment, particularly sexual, and public schools are certainly not exempt. Sexual predators in our schools should not be tolerated. If any school official has knowledge of such behavior by a staff member and does not report it to the authorities, he/she is as guilty as the predator.

To permit this type of behavior is to promote it! Such acts are not "rule violations", they are malicious crimes of abuse and should be dealt with by the law. If Dr. Richards has made such a gross error in judgement as to grant this sexual predator his freedom, she should be dismissed immediately.

Parents have enough worries about peer pressure when they send their children off to school. Being "hit on" by a staff member should be very near the bottom of their list. School officials who cover up these deplorable crimes should share the same cells as the predators!

I think that she tripped up this time, because if she, and the Board don't press charges, then I am.

What our children at Leland School Park have been exposed to this year has been a sin and a disgrace! And it is all because the principal looks the other way when it comes to certain people and lets things go on and then Dr. Richards makes sure none of the dirt ever sees the light of day. Sex,drugs, lies and who knows what else. It could be a soap opera and people would say it was too far fetched to beleive. Anonymous Too

Wonder if the teacher that has so much contraversy about her got her contract his year? There was a teacher that got fired somewhere for just wearing a bikini NOT for having sex in her room with another employee. Maybe that bikini wearing teacher should come to Leland, she could always get a job here.

or if she looks good in the bikini, she can come work for me!!

How is it that in other school districts any news hits the t.v. or newspaper. If the kids don't like the way there lunch looks or how a teacher talks to them, it's all over the news. Why is it that Leland employees can bring guns on campus, be under the influence of alcohol and drugs at school , speed up and down like they are at the drag races, have sex on campus, and only the Good Lord knows what else and a blind eye is turned? Are we in the twilight zone?Where are the people who are suppose to enforce the law and protect the children and the law abiding employees who are scared all the time.Nobody who works there has the nerve to go against the dictater! Chris will be Docs downfall, mark my word! Why can't he go change tires for his dad and leave the schools alone. It has not been safe for those precious little children for the last 3 years. Where are the parents? Do you not care that your child is in that kind of environment? Do you not care that they are not learning? Do you not care that they are exposed to sexual misconduct? Do you not care that they hear vile language? Do you not care that they witness shoving and pushing by two grown men? Do you not care that a young thug stays in their room all afternoon and takes them to get water and take them to the bathroom? I would not trust a child with someone like that.Do you not care that someone "high" is around your children? Where are the parents of Leland? Do you really not care who is raising, teaching, and influencing your 1st graders? Shame on YOU! When someone gets shot because of jealous rage, then you can say, "Why didn't we do something!"
It is not that the principal doesn't do anything, her job would be jeapordized and she would catch the wrath of Doc if she did anything. She, the principal, has had her hands full this year trying to straighten out kids that came from LES that were undisciplined and wild. It wouldn't do any good to try to solve the actions of the two that have cause so many problems. She has to keep her job. The last two principals couldn't do anything about it, so neither can this principal. The school board knows what is going on as well as the parents and they choose to do nothing and to let it continue, so don't blame the principal.

What are YOU doing to help with this problem? Simply writing about it will do nothing to rid the school of the evil that you are reporting. If you have first hand information, then it is YOUR responsibility to report it to the legal authorities; otherwise you, too, are guilty.

To the last writer,
You are obviously not familiar with the superintendent. For anyone who works there or has children there, this is about as brave as you can afford to get. She is VINDICTIVE. And what's more she knows everybody is scared of her. She counts on it and makes threats to make sure we stay scared. She has said many times that the state department of education will tell her who calls and reports on her. Whether its true or not, who's willing to take the chance. So we just have to hope that somebody will tell the right people and somebody will do something.

Years ago, my child came home from school upset, frustrated, angry and rebellious, totally out of character. He was not willing to tell me what was wrong, "Nothing" is all he would say. Was it bullies? Was it the school work? Was it the teacher? I found out one day when I happened to be a Room mother for the day, in my daughter's classroom, her room happened to not be far from my son's classroom. I heard clearly that teacher screaming at the
entire class that they were "stupid", "idiots", "lazy"!!!

She singled out several as the worst. One was my son, who until her class, had always been on the A honor roll for years and always considered one of the best students of the other prior teachers. That day, I had a long talk with my son about what I heard and reassured him that I was going to take action. Of course, he was afraid and intimidated by this teacher for fear of her repercussions to him, I told him not to worry things would change for the better. The next morning, I arrived at the principal's office and told him what was going on and that it had better stop immediately. But; I took it one step farther, I told that principal that I was going to sit in on this class as a parent observer, until I got the message across to this teacher that this was unacceptable. He agreed. I did just that, it only took one day. I told the teacher I was there to observe the school work to help my son, since his grades were falling. She was not happy about it, but accepted my given reason. I sat all the way through the day. My son was scared, but at the same time, glad I was there. The other children appeared to be relieved too. At the end of the day, with nothing said prior during the day, I waited till the kids were gone, then I told her the "real" reason why I was there. Of course, she denied it and in my presence, she was well behaved all the day. She had no idea that I had heard her the day before, but I let her know I had indeed heard her. I told her that if I EVER heard of her doing my kid or any kids like that again, I would go straight to the board and demand her resignation and if that did not work, the local media would be next.

Needless to say it did not happen again, I sporadically went by her classroom on every chance I had, all was well. My son began to do better and at the end of the year received the Presidential Academic Achivement award for the highest average of all the students for the six years of elementary. the award was presented to him by this same teacher. She was shocked that he had been named for this award. Apparently, she had no clue to his prior years of honor roll achievements.

The following year, that teacher was not rehired. I made sure a few board member friends, knew of her out of control behavior to be sure of it.

So yes, parents need to take action and back their threats with whatever is at hand, the board, the media, whatever it takes to stop whatever needs to be stopped and to change whatever needs to be changed.....or THEIR child will pay the price for THEIR neglect and shame on them for having no spine to fight for their child and other children. No child can learn in an oppresive or frightening environment. There is a large difference between classroom discipline and hostile tyranny. I know first hand what that is like, I was that same child, when I was little and promised myself then, that my kids would never have to suffer from an abusive and cruel teacher, as long as I had breath in me to fight back for them.

**She is VINDICTIVE. And what's more she knows everybody is scared of her**

Why would EVERYBODY be afraid of the Superintendent? She is on payroll and has her bosses too, the School Board AND the State Board of Education. If those parents would come together as a united front, nothing could stop them from making changes happen. Better to do it now, so her contract or appointment will not be renewed for next year!

I can't find a single news item about this. Did I miss it or is this all a bunch of under the radar?

That's what people who don't live in Leland don't understand. She doesn't have a boss. The school board is just as scared to make a move as every body else. Go to that 1000eyes of leland site listed above and read about parents going to the last board meeting. That si how it works. There is never any action taken. And by the way, parents are not allowed to observe in the classrooms of leland!

A parent first! said...

*parents are not allowed to observe in the classrooms of leland!*

Again, the parents need to push the board to take action and insist to have their parental rights protected in protecting their children.

And yes, she does have a boss, someone hired/appointed her and she can be removed! It just takes becoming a united front of concerned parents complaining to the Board or reporting inappropriate actions to the authorities, Social Welfare office, State Board, keep going until the right person is found. Possibly an attorney to represent the families and children's interests. Maybe that is the answer. Keep looking!

Well put 'A parent first!'

Further, It also doesn't matter if she is vinidictive ... anonymous concern calls to superiors, agency, press, and police are all possible.

Maybe I am old fashioned but I don't see a blog as a great first response. Not that these things can't be discussed here ... but if you have this kind of evidence then do your civic duty first and get these other agencys involved and THEN discuss it!
