Exodus: The Final Chapter

From the Delta Democrat Times:

The population of Washington County has decreased by 18% according to the 2010 census. The truth hurts. Washington County is losing its population faster than anywhere else in the state. It is a daunting statistic and one that we can’t ignore. What does it all mean? It means that our once great city and county have lost the one thing that determines its future, the prosperity of its citizens. Gone are the days when manufacturing companies would clamor for our non-union, lower paid work force. Major corporations have found an even cheaper place to make their wares – away from the borders of the U.S. While this is the general cause for the root of our problems, generally the residents of Washington County can blame no one but ourselves. Once the writing was on the wall and we saw that plants were losing and jobs were leaving town, our community leaders should have tried to come up with a plan to help stem the tide.

Unfortunately they were unsuccessful. Now we must put the past behind us, and step up to the plate. It is time we come together and make some hard decisions on what Washington County is, and what we want its future to be. We need to come together, draw the line in the sand and say enough is enough. Here are some things we need to think about over the next year to address the issue:

1) It’s an election year. When you make your choices in the election of our county and city leaders, make sure they have vision. Let’s just not elect the lesser of two evils. We need leaders to help provide solutions and welcome the ideas of others. We do not need status quo.

2) We need a strong Delta Economic Development Center. The EDC is important because it is supposed to be run by people who have no agenda except to see our town grow. A strong businessperson is always looking for growth, and no matter what type of business they have, more customers means more business. Providing the community with more opportunity should be the sole purpose of the EDC. The EDC leadership should have no political agendas. The EDC needs a strong executive board that will provide that leadership for our community. Hopefully the new director will provide Washington County with a good first step.

While most people will point to a poor school system, or high crime rate as the reason for our population decline and lack of new job creation, the truth is that these are just bi-products of our lack of vision. The problems Greenville faces are not unique and it needs strong leadership to help show us the way. While we face an uphill battle, we do have some strong positives that we need to leverage into the future. Our solid agricultural foundation provides a great base for us to grow. And with commodity prices on the rise, what better place to be than in the Delta – our soil is one of the best in the world.

We are also the retail hub for the entire region – we have more retail stores than any other town or city within 100 miles – and we should use that to our advantage. While good political leadership would be helpful, it’s the community leaders and pro-active residents who can take us to a place of greatness that can be even better than before.

While I am not quite as "optimistic" about Greenville's future as the above author, I do suspect the accuracy of the 2010 census figures.

Contrary to popular belief, not everyone in our state wants to "stand up and be counted". If you are a participant in any type of welfare fraud, the last thing you want to do is tell the truth about who you are, where you live, your employment status and how many dependents you have! Revealing any of this information could get you and your family kicked right off the "Gravy Train". This group is not worried about the number of seats in the house and senate; they are worried about THEIR seat at the at the ever-growing table of fraud and abuse.

Recently, I was in a local restaurant and overheard an irate woman complaining to her friend. The gist of the conversation was that her "no good" daughter had rushed down to the tax office the first week of January and claimed all 7 of her "deductions" (children). Then when the complainant recently tried to claim these same "deductions" on her tax form, the government refused her!

Apparently, our government applies a "first come, first serve" policy with regard to dependents. Once the SS# has been used as a deduction, it's off the table, regardless of legal custody or birth-right.

Now, I do not doubt that Greenville's population is significantly changing, but I would consider it more of a "shift"... from "taxpayers" to "tax-recipients". With a population reduction of 18% one would expect to see similar reductions in crime rates, unemployment and welfare costs? Not so in Greenville! The only thing decreasing in Greenville is the revenue generated from tax-paying citizens.

Now... who wants to be Mayor? Is there anyone left who would consider the job, other than those Hudson flunky wanna-bees? What about a successful businessman or a competent attorney? Hell, what about a house-wife who can balance a checkbook? The bar is currently set rather "low".

It is almost "amusing" to me that in my home town, the most controversial issue has become the banning of plastic flowers in the cemetery. Somehow, I think this speaks volumes about the direction in which Greenville is looking...

ROSCHELLE you are too busy looking up words in the dictionary to use in your posts with no solutions yourself. We all know what the problems are so you need not point them out. G'ville is dead and steady losing steam and about to be a ghost town. Just admit you made a mistake by choosing G'ville to live and raise your family. Unless your one of the ones riding the gravy train then most of your taxes and money are going to those that move here to hitch a ride on the train. Not one company will ever open its doors here in G'ville so forget about that. Agriculture is a joke ,most of the land is owned by foreign companies and they ship the money out of the country for tax puposes.

Anonymous said...

It is sad and i sure wish i had the solution but there is no way in the world that the voters in greenville will put the right person in office. Now if only the taxpayers could vote we might have a chance to turn things around and elect someone that could make a difference.
My suggestion would be to elect a mayor and council that would run for office and only receive expenses (Not pay). Take those salaries and increase the salary of the police and add as many new ones as possible.
With that scenario we would find out just how much a mayor and council really cared about turning this community around. This city was built by those that wanted to make a difference and now it is run by those that need a paycheck and in order to get it that have to pretend to care.

What are the salaries of the mayor and council members?

Who is in charge of the DDT online website? It hasn't been changed in months. We could get the news from there sometimes but now it seems the new editor has decided to not update the website. Just like everything else in this one horse town the DDT has decided we are not worthy of its use. Wake up DDT and update your website.

I noticed the same thing about the DDT website. I thought it was just being upgraded or just off line for some other reason. But now I think they just don't care or to stupid to know how to run a good website. All other small cities don't seem to have the problem of updating theirs. Like you said above this one horse town just don't get it. Some of us get our news from online sources. DDT how about joining the 21st century. You always talk about keeping the community informed by doing things that help. Well don' t you think updating your website would be good for the community?

I think the folks who SUBSCRIBE to the online DDT site get the updated info. The problem is that out-of-town folks (and any interested in moving here) who might check into the lifestyle and quality of life in Greenville via the Internet may NOT be able to see the most up-to-date info on the DDT website. If I were looking to relocate, the first thing I'd do is check out the local newspaper, whether by hard copy or online. MR. GUTHRIE, PAY ATTENTION.

Bunch of cry babies in here. They want everything free. About the same as the good people they complain about. Present a good idea or your EBT card to the DDT and see if they care.

I wouldn't pay for that fishwrapper anyway. The DDT is a joke and can't say or print what really needs to be said. Why do you think they change the chief editor about every 6 months to a year. The DDT is a joke. Just go to one of the tv stations online and read all you want for free. And you can watch video of the news if you like. So there DDT we don't need your stinking newspaper..

ONE OF THE MAIN PROBLEMS AND REASON I WOULD LOVE TO GET OUT OF THIS TOWN IS THE PROPERTY TAXES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WAY TO HIGH FOR WHAT ITS WORTH! IF I HAVE TO PAY HIGH PROPERTY TAXES THE CITY BETTER HAVE SOMETHING TO OFFER BACK!!

Anonymous,

Wow... very interesting and funny too. I think Greenville is a microcosm of what's been going on nationally. It's a simple case of poor and rich--haves and the have nots. The rich do not want to share the wealth and in doing so makes political decisions accordingly. The intellectual elite and the power elite have joined forces, i.e. the military industrial complex. So what does a poor man do? He does what one does when a bully continues to attack? He eventually fights back with avengence! Stop blaming each other and learn your rights. The banks make you sign many pages to get a home loan or any other loan worth no more than a few hundred thousand, but Secretary of Treasury Paulson wrote a 3 page note and got over $700 billion. When we don't pay attention to our law makers this is what they do. We have rights and most importantly we can vote. We also have a choice. The people in the Egyptian government are striking as we speak for better wages and benefits. They've joined in with the rest of the protestors for a better Egypt. Your fight is not with each other. Join forces to fight what's really causing the problem.

Roschelle, once again has to show how intellectual she is by pulling out the dictionary to use big words where just a simple word will do. She has not once given any solution to G'villes problem while trying to belittle the poor guy who challenges her stupiditY. If he had stareted every paragraph or used the word I without capitalizing them Roschelle would have really belittled him to show how she thinks she is far more superior. Roschelle please offer solutions on this blog to the downfall of G'ville otherwise keep your big mouth shut. At least he points out what he thinks the problems are so why don't you answer with a solution to his problems with G'ville?

The online DDT is not free... you have to pay to get the current news. I left Greenville 5 years ago but subscribe to the DDT online to keep up with obituaries and to confirm that my decision to leave Greenville was right. It was. I still like the Delta Scoop because it comforts me to know that there are still good people there that want to see a change.

As the Egyptian people are finding out, change comes with a price. Many are willing to die to save their homeland, but they are still united in their quest for change! Change will come in Egypt; I am not so sure about Greenville.

I agree with you Rochelle. Attend the city council meetings to see what's really going on. Greenville thrived without BIG business before, and it can do it again. Stop depending on the government to get things done. Create a group and do it yourselves. To change Greenville change the laws. We just can't keep moving (running away) from the problems. Sometimes we have to fight for what we want. It'll mean some serious sacrificing. Anonymous you can help by doing something instead of complaining. The church was the first government. They have more influence on the people. Go to them and have a meeting about changing Greenville. They have played the background for too long. Y'all have a better day tomorrow.

Roschell:

1. Should the unemployed not have a voice?

Now, are you speaking of the unemployed that are just in a temporary situation...or are you speaking of an
unemployed "welfare recipient" ....you know, one that's been taught this from several generations ago?

My personal opinion is that ...if a person has never worked to earn a living and relies solely on the government for financial support...then, that "so-called" unemployed person does not deserve to have a voice, nor a vote. They have not earned it.

Now, that my dear friend, is the main problem with Greenville.

These "so-called" unemployed citizens of Greenville are the ones that voted for the present Mayor Heather McTeer Hudson and the present City Council members.

Don't blame it on the past Mayor.

Place the blame where it belongs...on the "unemployed" voters that voted for Mayor Heather McTeer Hudson and the the current City Council members.

And if YOU, Roschell...also voted for them...then again, my dear friend,...you also are to be blamed.

Anonymous said...

Constantine:

You state the the church was the
first government.

Well, we here in Greenville know how the churches in Greenville operate. The preachers stand in the pulpit and tell the church members who to vote for. Influence? That's how Heather McTeer Hudson got to be the Mayor. Daddy donated money to the church and even paid for the gospel concert at the Convention Center.

So, place some of the blame on Agape because they were never in the background.

And, do we even need to bring up Obama's church? Was it in the background or was it "front & center"...until Obama was advised to distance himself from them when their views were made public?

But, if you'll visit a "so-called" white church, you won't see any of that.

Freedom of Religion and Freedom to Vote are two separate issues that should not be combined...not even in a church!

Constantine said...

Actually Anonymous I was alluding to the Church in helping to organize the citizens to change/create laws and clean-up Greenville. Just as you are upset I'm sure others-even in the "Black" church-are just as upset. Most of the people of Greenville are old and feel that the younger generation should take action. As aforementioned, the problem is not about color or who's on welfare; it's beyond that. And, you can espouse that all day. The question is: As an activist of change for the betterment of ALL of Greenville, what are You going to do about it? Blacks, Whites, Asians, Hispanics... are not the problem. It's the distribution of wealth. Inspire to change! Inspiration-that's the true power of the pulpit. On this blog, have you inspired anyone to improve Greenville or have you evoked anger/rage focused on race and the impoverished? The old saying in D.C. is that once the complainers to change D.C. arrive they too fall victims to greed, power and money. It's different once you're in it. Use your ability uncovered by your fears and prejudices. Work with the people, with the council. Go to the meetings and return with information that will inspire people to do more. When you do, I'm more than happy to listen to you. Until then, I bid you adieu.

It's sad when we accept pretty good from a business. Especially from one that could have (but they don't) an important role in the community.

Anonymous said...

I was one of the first houses' built in east terrace gardens. I was not afraid of walking anywhere until the last 10 years when a building boom started right behind my house. Now the city is growing south instead of using downdown buildings to entice business downtown. All the city has done is bring the riff raff into the southern part of G'ville and now we are being robbed each day and night.I would rather give someone a building downtown for free than to let them just sit there and fall down. The next mayor needs to find a way to utilize the downtown area and put a stop to the building in south G'ville. A city witout the heart of a downtown area is sure to continue going straight to hell. All the surrounded towns have done this so why can't G'ville? Just like the new movie complex, it should have been given the downtown area to build and that would have been a great start. It would have brought restaurants and some shopping back to downtown. Once it started I feel like the downtown area would have sprung back to life. Lots of cities have stopped building and making buildings available in there downtown area for little so people interested in starting a business don't have the overhead of rent or buying until several years before it kicks in. G'ville just try it, it's better than nothing . Just stop the congestion you have created in the southern part of G'ville now!!!

Anonymous said...

I live very close to you and feel your pain. But let me ask you, would you start a business down town where there is nothing but really high crime and thugs every where?? naa Neither would I,,, Come to think about it I wouldnt even build a new business in greenville when there are other places with lower property taxes and a better costumer base.

I have an idea to stop white flight from our public schools. This may also increase interest from businesses looking to relocate to Greenville. Build another high school in South Greenville, like on Gamari Road. Build an elementary, middle and high school. Keep Gville-Weston. Draw your line across Gville >> east to west, Cypress Lane....Bowman >>all the way to Raceway. Soloman and Akin could be a part of the southern area to save money on building elementary and middle schools. North goes to GWHS and South of the line goes to the new school. City of Cleveland has a similar plan. What a model city.

Anonymous said...

Sounds good, But that wouldnt happen that away if there was a new school built. They wouold have to ship in people from north greenville to the school, and even ship people from soth greenville to go to the north schools,, The line would solve a lot of problems on both sides, But the city does not see it that away, and their way of thinking is what is killing greenville.

Anonymous said...

a mostly white public school wouldn't be allowed in greenville. they would bus blacks from other parts of the city to the new school. the white school would be accused of offering better treatment.

Anonymous said...

Mayor Heather McTeer Hudson has NEVER welcomed or invited new businesses to the "downtown" area.

She did however, help with moving her church, AGAPE, to that area.

And because HER church is in the "downtown" area....she will NEVER welcome or i nvite businesses, also....to move to the "downtown" area.

To be a sucessful Mayor, one must put aside their "personal", "petty" beliefs and committ oneself's to the community and citizens as a whole...not just the select few that are "church members".

Hopefully, the next Mayor will be a mature, responsible person, that will serve the WHOLE community....and ALL of the citizens...without bodyguards!

We ALL have had ENOUGH of the "spoled", "self-centered", "drama queen" that is currently serving as the Mayor.

We need a "grown up" that isn't constantly...."running to Daddy"!

Anonymous said...

Cleveland practically gave the buildings away to people that wanted to start a business downtown there. Once business began to grow and foot traffic looked like the 60's and 70's there, more and more people began to open businesses downtown. The more people in the area sent the riff raff back into the ghetto where they came from. They couldn't get away with things they were doing because of all the people in the area. Now a few years later the downtown area in Cleveland is booming. I agree stop the building south and offer the closed up buildings to people that want to better the downtown area.

The "so-called" teachers that are in the programs Teachers for America and Americorp....are part of the Greenville Public School's problems.

These participants are NOT qualified. They have NOT taken educational courses that are required to become a "certified" teacher.

They did not orignally plan on "becoming a teacher". They are just in the programs because their student loans are waivered...All they have to do is...attend a summer training session in, I think, Dallas, TX., and commit to a two-year (supposedly) teaching agreement with a school in a poor area.

They are not in "it" for the right reasons. On the other hand, the "certified" teachers, more than likely "dreamed" about becoming a teacher for a very long time.

They (Techers for America and Americorp) "come in"...thinking that they KNOW everything...and really don't know jack$hit!

And the PARENTS....need to take a "stand"...and demand that the "troublemakers" are "put out" of the school...so that the others that want to learn....actually can learn without the constant interruptions.

But, this will be hard to accomplish, because if a child does not attend school....then mom's welfare check....and food stamp allotment will be decreased.

Anonymous said...

Speaking of private schools, whata ever happened to AGAPE's big plans to have a black private school built on the property that they owot ned on Colorado, down from Second Baptist Church.

The same "welfare" recipiants that voted for the Mayor...couldn't "cough up" the money for tuition.

And instead of using that property (on Colorado)...they sold it and
got...almost "free" property in the downtown area.

Yes, that's city politics. Look out for yourself, your church members, and no one else.

And the reason you don't know...is because until recently you have been living in Leland.

And...you only recently met ONE...only one...teacher that was a Teach for America teacher from the Weston campus. So, you really don't know about the Teach for America teachers, nor the Americorp teachers, do you?

Roschell, call the Greenville Public School District...334-7000 and ask for Barbara McCoy in the Federal Programs department. Ask for a copy of the demographic survey for Greenville.

She can alos, give you Federal Programs information, which will include the number of blacks and whites in each school. She can also, give you the percentage of the Greenville Public Schools e of students that receive "free" lunches at each school.

This is public information.

Then you will know the percentage of students that are on welfare and ....the percentage of students that are black...then you will also know that there are not any whites in Greenville, MS. on welfare! And if there are discplinary problems in the schools, then, yes they are caused by black children on welfare.

Go ahead. Make that phone call.

There are not enough black people in Greenville that care and that is the reason they have not built a dang thing for themselves. The private schools were built with white money, the country club was built with white money and yes the city was built with white money and is currently being maintained with white money. Why do you ask ? Because they cared ! Wait until the whites build it and then the blacks will want to be a part of it or join it. Tell me i am wrong! How many white children have the famous 100 black men helped ? Compare that to what the whites money has done for the underprivleged and less fortunate of all races. Oh i could go on and on but it is senseless. Why did i even come in here. Bye and just stay blind and keep defending the obvious downfall of the city !

Anonymous said...

Roschell,

I will not quote racial statatical
data...you would not believe me.

Just make the phone call(s).

You can get it "straight from the horse's mouth"...and then you will be informed and know.

I'm not discrediting the ONLY teacher that you met...concerning HER concerns regarding discpline at the Weston campus...or any other any Greenville Public School campus.

I'm just discrediting HER ability to acturally teach...because SHE and the "others" that are participating in the Teach for America program or the Americorps.

If you really "want to state your case" before the "powers that be"...you must have the qualified,
certified teachers to come forth.

But, that in itself causes another problem.

Will they come forth and lodge a complaint....when they are already be replaced...or competing with...
younger, "fresh-out-of- college", unqualified, uncertified "so-called" teachers and uncaring welfare parents?

No! They want "job security" and will keep their mouths shut!

Your best "plan of action"...would be to get the parents to help. But, then, again you would have to "consider the source".

Again, I challenge you, make the phone calls to the Greenville Public School District office, and also, to the private schools.

Gather your data, and then YOU will realize who and what you are dealing with.

The whites and non-whites that attend private schools are NOT on welfare. And their parents work, pay taxes, and discpline their children at home, so that they will be discplined at school. Yes, these parents truly care about their children....and don't view then as "additional income"!

Go ahead, make the phone calls.

Anonymous said...

The reason Agape's private school did NOT materialize on Colorado Street is because the "school voucher" plan did not get approved.

Mayor Heather McTeer Hudson's mother used to have a day care center. Ask Heather how the parents' "paid" for the day care tuition.

The parents did NOT pay, the government paid the cost for the children's day care!

And Mrs. McTeer was very selective in the students that she admitted to the day care center!

Anonymous said...

The Govt pays for daycare now. Head Start is free isn't? So what's the deal with McTeer?

The reason that we have to use "Teach for America" teachers is because the teachers that we had before couldn't teach, and our children were graduating without being able to use simple math or grammar. Had the seasoned teachers been worth their salt, then "Teach for America" would not exist.

When a teacher doesn't use proper grammar herself or himself, there is no hope for the students.

How many teachers or school officials have you heard use the term, ask, like "I ax you a question>>".

At least the Teach for America teachers start off by wanting to make a difference. They leave because the system in Greenville is so bad, from administration down to the parents, that they lose their desire to help, at least here in Greenville.

Until the parent takes control of the home, and becomes a parent, then this problem will NEVER go away. I realize that there are circumstances that happen to cause grandparents to raise their grandchildren, but that should but the exception, not the norm.

Take a poll in Greenville. See how many grandparents are raising grandchildren, and probably even great grands. I would say that you would be surprised, but you probably wouldn't be.

Signed,

Gladly Writing (the tuition check each month).

Anonymous said...

The ONLY reason that we had to "use" Teach for America teachers was because no one else wanted to come to this area and teach!

It had nothing to do with the quality of the current teachers.

It had more to do with the quality of the parents....and as a result of that...it included the quality of the students.

The ONLY difference the Teach for America teachers wanted to make was/is....the difference in "paying off the student loans" or NOT "paying off the student loans".

Their ONLY desire to help...was/is
to "help"...."pay off the student
loan".

And then they move on... and pursue their "intended" careers...and never look back!

And, yes students did/do graduate without knowing baisic Math and reading skills.

But "check out" the school board policy for "retainees". A student can only repeat a certain grade twice...and then "transferred"
...NOT PROMOTED... to the next grade level. Or...either they are tested for Special Services...and "mama"...gets an increase in her "monthly" check!

So, let me "ax" you this...would that be the fault of the teacher...or would that be the fault of administration?

Additionally, classroom instructional time is drastically shortened, because of "disruptive" students.

So, again, let me "ax" you something else...is that the fault of the teacher...or is that the fault of the parents because the student did not receive any "home training" in how to behave and be respectful?

But, I'm like you...gladly writing a tuition check!

Anonymous said...

Anonymous 905AM, I agree with you on most points, but not about the quality of the teachers. Disagree. Not all are bad, but a lot of them aren't worth the paper their "diploma" is printed on. Administration officials included.

Also, I am in my job because it is the career that I chose, but don't let anyone lie to you, if we all hit the lottery tomorrow we would be gone. Teach for America teachers are no different. Gotta pay the bills.

Concerning the quality of teachers-
the ones that aren't worth the paper their "diploma" is printed on-including administration-are (well, at least the majority) are graduates of the Valley and Jackson State and Tougaloo.

And I'm talking about ALL of their graduates....not just the ones with teaching degrees!

And in a sense....the Teach for America teachers are no different than the "welfare" parents...because they too, are getting something "free" from the government.

Also, writing that monthly tuition check!

Anonymous said...

The majority of students on "free" financial aid....just do enough to barely pass.

It reminds of what someone asked me years ago----Would you want to go to a doctor that made C's & D's in med school---or would you want to go to a doctor that made mostly
all A's?

Even the doctor that made the C's and D's....is out there some where..."doctoring" on patients!

Teach for America getting something, in essence, for free, but at what price? I am glad that i don't ave to deal with those "children" everyday.

ROSCHELL,

But, did you change...or even want to...and make those phone calls?

A person must have the "correct" facts/data...or truth...before they can even begin to think about solving the problem(s).

Accept the facts and/or truth and stop making excuses...for the ones that are to be blamed. Don't take up for them.

I work at the hospital and I don't know of any registered nurses that are named Roschelle, and neither do any of my co-workers that I asked!

Everyone in this town is struggling. There are stabbings, shootings, and deaths. If it doesn't directly touch us, then most of us just don't worry about it. There are several areas that the police need to take care of once and for all. DoubleQuik on Alexander and Broadway for one. Bums and prostitutes openly doing drugs, drinking, with no arrests from the police. Every dollar store or convenience store has beggars right outside the door that harass you in your car and when you go in and out of the stores. Why do the businesses let them endanger their customers? I certainly cannot figure it out. We recently met a new couple that is moving into town from out west. I feel obligated to fill them in on many areas not to go after dark, especially the wife and children, for it is not safe. Walmart is one place. I don't venture there except in daylight and even then the idiots that call themselves SECURITAS don't give a damn if you park in Handicapped or right next to the store. They are just riding around making their time and money. The way women dress in public is embarrasing to say the least. Going into a family store dressed like a hooker shows no respect for yourself or others. I will end on this note, but more will come as I ponder my thoughts

ROSCHELLE Please turn out the lights since you don't get it!!!Written in the DDT GREENVILLE – As the numbers continue to rise for educators leaving Washington County public schools, officials are already preparing for the upcoming school year. Since August of last year, hundreds of teachers have come and gone in county public schools. Keeping and attracting highly qualified and certified teachers - not only in the county but in the Delta - is still a work in progress.

Anonymous said...

Wow, hundreds since last August? That should tell Roschelle something about the GPS system. Why won't these teachers stay here since they are all about helping the children? I thought that was one of Roschelle's points. I will tell you why they won't stay. It's because you have a bunch of wild heathens in the GPS that don't get dissaplined at home by their Black parents or Grandma.Aren't the schools around 99% black? There's your problem. My two daughters are teachers and when the were to do their practice teaching to complete their degree both were warned not to accept a practice teaching position in G'ville. Now thats a fact. Just watch television and see how people talk especially the blacks. They say,Let me AX you something, I had went to the store or I seen him yesterday. Now come on how can you go to school for 12 years and talk like that by attending GPS system.

Roschell,

Before you start praying for someone...whom you correct because of a "typo" or misspelling...and whom you think has issues with "black heathens"....do us ALL a favor and "pray for your OWN self first"!

Just because you are black...as your photo clearly shows...doesn't mean YOU are also blind.

And whenever YOU get through praying for yourself, go ahead and make those phone calls ...and get the correct, trueful data!

You do know how to make a phone call, don't you.

Anonymous said...

Roschell,

Whenever you call the schools...why don't you "ax" them for a copy of the civil rights survey.

It used to be required that they had to do a survey about every FOUR years.

It was a lengthly survey, "axing" about the number of black students, white students,
female students, male students and so on in various areas....classes,sports, and discplinary actions taken.

Additionally it "axed" questions about employees and staff. How may were white, how many were black, how many were females and how many were males. Supposedly, the employee numbers had to be equal in order to continue receiving "funding" since, it was a public entity.

Once, someone in Washington, D.C., after receiving the completed report, called and then visited one of the elementary schools. I believe it was Manning Elementary school. The principal in now retired in living in the Greenwood area.

The civil rights representative form Washington, D.C. had the nerve to "ax" the school principal why he had ONLY discplined "black" students.

The principal replied..."Come on, let's take a tour of the school and visit the classrooms. And I promise you, if you can find a white student in any of these classrooms...I'll discpline him/her and "add" it to the civil rights report!."

Well, that was the END of THAT discussion.

I wonder, do they EVEN bother to complete those reports any more!

The Teach for America and Americorp programs are simply a way to "up" the white employee count...so the funding can continue!

You know, you scratch my back and I'll scratch your back. (school loans waivered....and continued funding!)

I've been reading this blog for years. It's downright embarrassing reading the comments you all have left for Roschelle. One of the few people that identified themselves. She never said we didn't have problems. I think she was just trying to keep things constructive while others stooped low and started mud slinging. GREENVILLE YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED!

Anonymous said...

City council members make a tad over $10,000 per year. Not sure about the exact amount.

Anonymous said...

I don't for one minute believe that ROSCHELL just recently "found" this blog site.

A couple of years ago, DRMC and Leland Public Schools BOTH, were the main topics.

So, she used to live in Leland and now she is "throwing a hissy fit" about Greenville Public Schools, although HER children attend a private school.

And, now that DRMC has a NEW director, she gets on here...and not only uses her "real" name, but shows her "real" photo.

And naturally SHE only has "good" things to say about DRMC and doctors in general.

Sounds to me like Roschell wants out of the E.R., and is using a "brown nose" approach!.

Her nose is stuck so far up the Director's @ss, it has some how affected her brain and she can't think straight!

Anonymous said...

Roschell,

About that young, white female Teach for America teacher from Hattisburg that was at "her wit's end" whenever you met her at DRMC'S
E.R.:

1. Did the school pay for the medical attention that she had to receive because of the "pain and suffering" that she had to endure while on her job?

2. Were you asleep in class whenever the teachers at the University that you attended while
they were discussing HIPPA rules and regulations?

3. Does DRMC have mandatory training sessions concerning
what to do and what NOT to do... to maintain that a patient's personal and medical information is kept private?

4. What discplinary action is taken by the hospital and board of directors if a hospital employee is found guilty of disclosing confidential patient information on a public blog site?

5. How easy do you think it would be for an attorney to find out who is the white, female Teach for America teacher that's from Hattisburg and teaches at Weston?

6. How easy do you think it would be for an attorney to get a court order for her medical records and to see who the attending nurse was that assisted in treating her?

Roschelle, once again you don't get it when your chain is being pulled. The word dissaplined was spoken like a true black so you would understand what we are saying in here. Now please put your dictionary away and stick to the points and not showing that you think you are educated in here. I along with others have noticed several words not spelled correctly or punctuation marks used incorrectly but we choose to stick to the point and not point out your mistakes in grammer. Most of us didn't realize we were being graded in here on our grammer. Now AX me a question and I will solve your problem or tell you your problem.

And we ALL know that you met the young, white female Teach for America teacher at work in the E.R.---whether you admit it or NOT.

But, the attorney WILL find out the truth.

And the attorney WILL find out if you are "posting" comments on a public blogsite while at work.

Todays' date is Monday, February 21, 2011 and the time is approximately 10:57 AM or almost
11:00 AM.

And, if you are NOT working today,
use your spare time and make those phone calls and then you also, WILL find out some truths about some things.

Now, what's cute and what's NOT cute!

All it took was "adding 1 + 1 =2", which was easy to do, thanks to your "soon to be umemployed" "big mouth"!

Who or what has really "sank so low"?

And YOU are the hilarious one...trying to be, oh, so smart, while actually "telling off on yourself"!

Anonymous said...

Roschell,

You don't need to be making any phone calls today.

I've already checked and YOU ARE AT WORK TODAY...which is Monday, February 21, 2011. (time: approximately 12:07PM)

You've already been using a "work" computer to "post" to a public blogsite while at "work".

You really don't need to be also,
using a "work" phone ....to make a "personal" phone call while at "work".

The hospitals have their own type of recruiting...similar to Teach for America and Americorps.

They also "waiver" student loans if a newly-graduated, licensed, nurse signs a two year contract/committment.

They also, will waiver tuition fees for CNA's and LPN's that are already in their employment and wishing to go back to school.

And this method is also used in recruiting new doctors to the local area.

But, this type of recruitment does not always mean that Greenville has recruited "good", "ethical" or
"top of the class" nurses or doctors!

Nurses and doctors....like teachers...don't want to come to this area.

Roschelle I only read your posts to see how I could keep tearing you down STOOPID!!!

Anonymous said...

What Roschell DOES or DOES NOT do at work is everyone's business...even YOURS....because YOU never know when you might be a patient in the ER at DRMC!

And she might "give the impression" that she is hard at work....but WE all know that she's NOT giving her boss 100% of her time and effort, while "on the clock".

And that my friend....is how mistakes are made...and accidents happen. No one wants a mistake or accident to happened while being treated in the ER at a hospital.

Yet,Roschell had the "gall" to talk about how bad the teachers are in the Greenvill Public School System, the city government and other issues.

Seems like Roschell and the teachers have a lot in common and now, everyone will "discredit" what Roschell has to say about anyone or anything.

And, this is "literally speaking"...but Roschell needs to clean up her OWN backyard...before she starts talking about someone else's backyard!

Now, do you understand, Dude that posted at 11:19PM?

Roschelle brought it all on herself by coming in here pointing out grammer and such. But it is ok for her to use bad grammer or use small type to start sentences and such. Not once did she ever try and answer anyone by saying what she thought could be done to better G'ville other than our attitude in here about what we think is wrong with G'ville. We all know what really is the problem in G'ville is and it is BLACK and WHITE. ...Just look at walmart parking lot. I have watched black families eat in their car then just throw all their chicken boxes out the door and walk into walmart while all along being parked in a handicapped zone. These were young blacks. I have had two heart attacks and I can't get a handicapped sticker so how does 9 out of 10 blacks get them? Do they sign up at church for them or what? Most of them look like they need to walk a few steps if you ask me. They work on their cars in the parking lot and throw the oil bottles on the ground. Tell me you don't see these things Roschelle. Why don't you blacks confront these people and say something to them? If we whites say something then we are called racist and they cop an attitude. Police your own kind that would be a start to helping G'ville.

Isn't it truly amazing how....yesterday, Monday, February 21, 2011....and prior to THAT...that Roschell was using the screen name of "Roschell"?

And now,...today, Tuesday, February 22, 2011....Roschell is NOT using her screen name of "Roschell"...but,...instead has continued her "posting"....which are ALL trying to defend her and her actions....under the screen name of "Anonymous"!

We are not fooled! We know it is still you.

And you even went as far as to have a "supposedly" co-worker "post" comments in your defense.

Wonder how many "bloggers" are going to call DRMC's new Administrator and inquire about his employees...."blogging" instead of working.

I'm making the first call. How many more will also call 378-3783?

Anonymous said...

TO 8:43 AM:

I may not "personally" know Roschell, but I do know that once it was "pointed out" to her that she should abide the HIPPA rules and guidelines and that SHE should NOT be "posting comments"....using her name, profile and photo...while at WORK...that the screen name "Roschell" stopped appearing on this blogsite.

At least...YOU had the good sense to "use" an Anonymous screen name.

Let me "clue you in"...the hospital can STILL check the
"work" computers and find out who is "posting" while at WORK...you included!

What is your and Roschell's motive?

YOU and Roschell are NOT fooling anyone.

If someone states that "the majority of Greenville's population is black"....would they be called a racist?

And that the majority of crimes committed in the city are committed by blacks?

And that the majority of discplinary problems that occur in the Greenville Public Schools are caused by black students?

Would a person stating a true fact be called a "racist"?

Open your eyes and accept the truth.

And if YOU or Roschell don't like the truth....then do something about....becasue if a white person says
anything..then,they will be called a racist!

Which IS exactly what YOU and Roschell have done!

If you want things to change, then do something about it....on your OWN "free, personal" time. But, please, don't stoop down low and try to "play politics" while on your JOB. You'll never get any respect.

So who really is the racist?

It certainly isn't me...because the statistical data "backs up" and confirms ALL of my statements.

And you and Roschell and the rest of the Africian American race would know that... if someone would make the phone calls and request the information!

I'm also very mature acting for my age, which I can't say about you and neither, will anyone else on this blogsite that has/will read your post.

And about the bullying part....go back and read your own post and you'll know who really IS a bully.

And just because I don't "clock in" at thr ER (or other departments!)located at DRMC and then use the computer that is "owned" by DRMC for work use ONLY...does NOT mean that I, also am USING a WORK computer. I own this computer and can use it any time I want to.

And does a person really, really have to be...as you put it..."a power hungry fool"...to be considered important by others?

The ONLY "power hungry fool" in Greenville, Mississippi that thinks she/he is important IS Mayor Heather McTeer Hudson...and I can assure YOU that I am not HER!

What we are missing in Greenville is leadership !
Everyone that comes in here states that we need a change. Well that choice of change can actually happen if we the voters go to the polls and vote for he most qualified candidate in our next mayoral election. Now i did not say to vote along racial lines; i said to vote for the most qualified candidate. Greenville will actually see change if we all get out and vote for tha MOST qualified candidate. Yes there will actually be a qualified candidate running for mayor that does not need the pay check but is running to turn this city around. If "YOU" want changes get out and VOTE !
I am sure you will realize who i am talking about in the next few day's. No it is not anyone who has ever served in city government. That we do not need !

Anonymous said...

ROschell,

Thanks! Everyone wants to be viewed as "being younger" than they acturally are.

But, I can assure you...I am NOT a child....nor a very young woman.

And I'm about "as grown up" as I'm ever going to be.

If a person is not mature acting by the time they hit "their forties"....they'll never be mature in their acting, thinking or responsiblity towards their job performance.

And both in their personal life and work life, a person should always be ethical, professional and have a code of conduct when interacting with others.

In the South, this is called "having manners" and usually is taught at home, by loving, caring parents. And once a person has learned this...it overflows into their work life.

And I...and others on this blogsite....have also made a choice... to exercise OUR rights to express OUR thoughts.

The sole purpose of THIS venue...is so that people can speak freely...without restrictions.

And if you don't believe me...make a phone call to Forthright and he/she will tell you that I am telling you the truth.

Last, but not least, today is Wednesday, February 23, 2011...(about 10:08 AM) and if you are not at work...then go ahead...and make those other phone calls. And if you want to, when requesting the information, give the person your name, rank and serial number!

Roschelle Since you still don't seem to get what's wrong with G'ville I will spell it out for you. Please answer these questions on your next post on this blog.

What is the percentage of blacks and whites in GPS system and why are there shut downs and fights among which race nearly every month.
How many murders were in G'ville last year and what race was involved in most of them?

Why does the mayor have to spend nearly 250,000 dollars on security when no previous mayor has spent a nickel of tax payers money.

How can people in the tax collectors office steal over one million dollars (all black workers) and not spend time in prison?

What is the percentage of crime being commited and by what race here in G'ville?

What is the percentage of blacks in jail or prison compared to white in washington county?

How many blacks vs. whites are on welfare or unemployed here in G'ville?

Who pays the most in taxes in washington county black or white citizens?

Why is downtown dangerous at night and why is G'ville growing south instead of north?

Who is selling and buying most of the drugs here in G'ville?

Which race gets free breakfast, lunch and childcare in washington county.

How many black teenage girls are having babies compared to white teenage girls that go on welfare and why aren't the blacks doing something about it.

How many blacks families are single moms raising kids without a dad?

Roschelle just answer these questions and if a light bulb doesn't come on in your head then you and those like you are a lost cause. You will never admit it but this is why G'ville will never be the QUEEN CITY again. Business will never come here when these questions are answered by them.

AND YOUR ANSWER IS? !!!!!!

I HAVE MORE IF YOU LIKE BUT THESE SHOULD HELP YOU SEE THE LIGHT.

Anonymous said...

Thanks 2:10PM!

You have said WHAT I have been trying to say....for the last few days!

Now,if Roschell would just start making some phone calls....she would have the answers to your questions!

And she could also, make some phone calls to the DDT....the police dept. or even visit the library and ask for help in researching this data.

But, I'm NOT going to "hold my breath"...while waiting on her answers to the above listed questions!

If she were a concerned citizen, and wanted to help Greenville with its problems...maybe, just maybe, she will collect the data....on the days that she is NOT at work!

Anonymous said...

2:38 you are welcome. There is only one answer to all of the questions. Now if Roshelle will answer them honestly instead of beat around the bush, then we will see if she gets it or not. If the blacks would answer them all honestly and start policing their siblings maybe, just maybe, G'ville will start down the right road. If she would start a program in her church lecturing the young maybe the other black churches would all get together and start a program to wakeup the young black kids. But I doubt it because then that would take up time for teaching them how to screw the taxpayers out of money by getting all the entitlement programs by not changing a thing thus keeping the cycle going and going and going.

Is THE wife STILL at Darling School...you know the same school that "Marched to city halll"!?

Need to check on those field trips!

I hope that Ms. Roschelle does check the blog again briefly just so that I can tell her: you are the kind of person that I'd like to know. I hope our paths will cross someday---we can work together to make Greenville a better community and save it from the horrifyingly ignorant attitudes of people like the racist "Anonymous." Thank you for your very literate and thoughtful postings. I'm sure you don't take the racist rants personally, but I still feel compelled to apologize for them on behalf of my race. I'm a middle-aged white female, and you and I have more in common than Mr. Anonymous will ever admit.

You are about as white as Roschelle. You ain't fooling anyone coming in here saying that. You and Roschellare friends already and she put you up to your post.Roshelle wrote earlier that she was her brothers keeper. WELL keep your brother out of my house stealing my stuff!!!!

A good start for everyone that is a registered voter.
1. Vote for the best qualified candidate in the Mayor's race.
2. Do not vote for anyone that has served on city council. Any former council person is a part of the problem and have shown no initiative to have a answer for the city's problems. Not a one has shown the ability to be leaders.
3. I for one have heard enough of this so called Rochelle. Lets get a qualified Mayor and city council elected and let Rochelle save the world on her own as i am sure she can achieve.

Roschell:

So,...IF you did know the name of the person that broke into someone's home...you claim that you would be the first to:

1. Call the police
2. Urge him to return the stolen items
3. Counsel him about the error of his ways
4. Pray for him to choose the right path in life

But do you ALSO think that the person that stole the itmes should be punished by the law enforcemnt agency and/or judges for the crime that he committed to innocent people?

That's what loving the LORD and abiding in HIS word is all about!

You and your other "so-called" Christian friends need to
keep your "brothers" from stealing from....your "other" CHristian brothers!

Counseling and praying....ALONE...
will NOT stop the crimes in Greenville, MS. or any
other city.

The criminals NEED to be punished.

Is punishment NOT taught at YOUR church?

And you don't have to be a rocket scientist to visit a city that has 70% white population...and then you will see that the jails are NOT overcrowded. They are half empty!

Does anyone know whether the current drama queen Mayor is running to be reelected or not?

Anonymous said...

No...it was in last week's paper...or maybe the week before, and also, in the Clarion Ledger.

Mayor Heather McTeer Hudson will NOT be running for a re-election.

Thank you, Jesus!

What about the "matching" money that Greenville was supposed to come up with....to match the donated money that a family donated--sorry can't remember their name?

How was the money used to "fix up" Greenville?

Is there a detailed report/budget on how the money was spent?

What was the criteria for having a site "fixed up"?

Were applications available?

Was there a committee?

Or did the Mayor, solely, make the decisions about what sites, if any, were "fixed up"?

It's election time and we need this information!

And since the Mayor will NOT be running for a Re-Election...what about the personal body guards? Will they be fired....finally....since their services will NOT be needed in that particular capacity?

Your fighting a loosing battle, Why would they want to change? Section 8 pays for their house as much as 750/month. Food is paid for with stamps/card. All they have to worry about is there cars and utilities. Oh and 45s.
No property taxes, no need to wake up and go to work.
there is no need in thir eyes to change. They have it made!!

Anonymous said...

11:15PM

And, remember, now, not only do they have to worry about "paying" for their cars, untilities and 45s,
add to that list...cell phones, hair extensions, acrylic nails, box cutters, and "spinners" for their tires! And their jewelry and designer clothes, electronic toys, and rap music collection and their booze and drugs!

Then why are all of us still here? I sometimes think Boy what a dope I am for living here but then again how can I leave when everything I have worked for will be lost if I try to sell and leave. We are just stuck and can't get out. It is so frustrating to me.

Don't drown in your tears.

How you like that runon sentence?

I think they are still here, otherwise they would move on with their hate. They will be a cancer to any community they move to.

Anonymous said...

All losers here and in Greenville.GET OUT WHILE YOU CAN!!! By the way the SAME person is posting 3/4s of these comments. I wonder if there on medication for all the voices in there head.

Anonymous said...

10:37 Why is it hate when someone speaks the truth? The cancer in G'ville is the stupid people that keep voting for their race instead of the best qualified. Did you vote last election? I doubt it or you would be more upset about our town which used to be the QUEEN CITY is now just a big ole Mound Bayou. And the more time that goes by the worst it gets. Hope you soon wakeup and smell the coffee.

Anonymous said...

I'm wide awake. Yes I did vote in the last election and every election. One thing we agree on is to vote and vote everybody on the current council out of office. There are no whites that run in certain wards of the city or blacks in certain wards. It doesn't really matter if our mayor is back or white when the council has the power to bypass the mayor. We need people with good intentions to run for office in this town. But guess who will be running???? Since they aren't worth a damn as councilmen, I think they will suck at Mayor.

But back to your question, why continue to spew vicious crap out about a certain race. Maybe they have ruined your life. I'm sorry but what you say and the way you say it is hatred. There is no peace in anybodys heart that hates.

Anonymous said...

The way they say it is the way it should be said I think. Whoever it is shoots straight and doesn't beat around the bush. Just because they shoot straight doesn't mean they are full of hate. It just reads that way because it is the truth and reading things you can't hear the tone of a voice the same as you could hear it spoken. They are passionate about their hometown and you can't hear that by just reading a post. So take that in consideration when you visit blogs. You know what they say about assume don't you. It makes an ass out of u and me.ass u me

And it has become the ways of the black that seem to abuse the system. You know it's true so lets fix it.I bet you are one of those ebt card brokers that pay penny's on the dollar for those poor blacks ebt cards so they can buy their crack. Or I bet you know someone that is ,so why don't you turn them in? Thats fraud you know. Now name a time and place and I will be there.

Anonymous said...

I am truly interested in making this a better Greenville. But, when I read comments calling black people "the monkey" is this to try to get us to vote for the qualified "white" candidate? Is this an attempt to solicit votes to better the city? With all this hate being expressed, should I trust my and my grandchildrens future to name calling bigots? I know that the present political "monkeys" are not even what I wish them to be, but your comments make me very afraid. My grandchildren dont get free lunches, have fake nails drive cars with spinners or have 45's (whatever that is). My oldest son has just retired with 20 years in the military and his son just enlisted with the same intentions. Please don't just lump people together under ugly names it really defeats the purpose. I work very hard, I work with my grands to try to get them in the math and science school, I do care. Thank you for listening

you want to trash me and then get together for discussion. That's funny. You can't see past your hate to have a discussion. You're a true racists my friend.

How can I be a racist? I am a black man tired of my kind ruining everything thats good. Thats why I wanted to meet with you to show you I finally woke up and see the problems are caused by those in my race that are just plain ignorant. Now name a time and place. If anything we have become the racists and hateful people.

Perhaps our mayor and city council have watched the news and read the paper today. Do you see what is happening to our city under your leadership??????

What has happened to our families? What has happened to basic human behaviour?????

Did this "Fine Good Mother" attend our esteemed Greenville Public Schools? is this the future that we can expect of our current GPS students????

Take note, Superintendant. Are You Listening and watching?

Where is Hollywood??? Hollywood was so all over the Michael Vick Case, and although I am a dog owner and lover, THEY WERE DOGS! This was a 3 year old precious baby, no matter his color! A baby. I know people who would have taken that precious baby as their own, white or black.

Where is the news? Now is the time to do something, and get it fixed! It is apparent that our local government can't do squat, perhaps the media will descend upon our fair town and point out these atrocities once and for all.

Greenville Police Chief Freddie Cannon said Terrie A. Robinson, 24, was charged with murder. She was to be arraigned Thursday in Greenville, a city of about 35,000 residents in the Mississippi Delta.

It wasn't immediately clear if she had hired a lawyer.

Johnson said the child's body was still warm when it was removed from the oven.

"This is a really sad moment for me. I've seen a lot of things, but this is one that will stick in my memory for a long, long time," Johnson said.

There appeared to be some trauma to the boy's head, Johnson said, and that could have happened before he was placed in the oven.

Officers found the body after responding to an emergency call, but the chief didn't want to release any details because of an ongoing investigation.

Johnson said a little girl found in the home was placed in the care of the Mississippi Department of Human Services.

Terrie Robinson's twin sister, Sherrie Robinson, told WXVT-TV that people should not judge her sister before all the facts are known.

"She was a great parent, a good person. We don't know what's wrong. We don't know what happened. Do not sit there and call her a bad mom cause that's not what she is," Sherrie Robinson told the TV station.

A good mom are you kidding me.

8:38 I was once just like you. I was a black man angry at the white man and all he stood for. I was awakened one day by being lucky enough to be in an audience where Bill Cosby was speaking about the problems of the black race. By the time he finished I was in tears. Even though I didn't want to admit it, we are our problem. The blacks have spent most of their time working at how we can get something for nothing. Mr. Cosby should come here to the delta and speak to us to open up the eyes of the black race here. It took about a week for me to think about what he said and to absorb it but once it did I have been a changed man. It is us the blacks that haven't changed just look at what happened in the presidential race. The whites elected Obama not us. So think about it real hard and what Mr. Cosby says is true if you just think about it. I just wish G'ville could get Mr. Cosby here to speak and I would bet G'ville would be a better place.

Anonymous said...

7:41AM

I appreciated your honesty.

Perhaps, if we can't get Mr. Cosby to come to the Delta, then maybe you can speak to various groups of people and convert them to Mr. Cosby's and now your way of thinking.

It's worth a try. And do you kow Roschell? Maybe you could "hook up" with her and she might be your first converter.

But, I do think that you are mistaken about the whites
electing Mr. Obama into office. The whites do not believe in what Mr. Obama's church is teaching. And now, even Mr. Obama is distancing himself from both the church and it's pastors because of their conflicking beliefs.

Anonymous said...

Blacks make up 13% of this nation's population. If whites didn't "elect" him, then WHO did? You can get Cosby, The Peace Corp and the Dalai Lama to come to Greenville. But if people don't WANT to change THEY STILL WON'T. It's the GOVERNMENT that needs to be converted. STOP rewarding LAZINESS! If I man WON'T work, HE shouldn't EAT! Cosby may have shown the once angry black man the error of his ways. But what about the blacks that have never thought this way - that realize the value of a dollar and have a strong work ethic, morals and values???

Signed,

Don't need help lecturing me about what I already know.

HeFBI Uniform Crime Report CONFIRMS NON-WHITE PREPONDERANCE TO CRIME

The following facts are derived from data found in the FBI Uniform Crime Reports (online link) for the years 1995 through 2000.

(Once again it is worth stressing that the FBI figures do not break down separate statistics for Central American immigrants, Mexicans, Arabs, or anybody else: if the FBI had included a separate category for these racial groups, the disparity between Black and White would be even larger.)

- The average Black commits murder about 7.1 times more often than the average "White" (where "White" includes Hispanics etc.)

- The average Black commits interracial murder about 13.8 times more often than the average "White" (where "White: includes Hispanics etc.)

- The average Black kills a "White" 15.9 times more often than the reverse.

- Weapons violations are committed by Blacks at nearly 5 times the rate for Whites;

- Blacks are caught receiving or buying stolen property at nearly 5 times the rate for Whites;

- Blacks are involved in prostitution at almost 4 times the rate for Whites;

- Blacks are arrested for drug crimes at over 4 times the rate for Whites;

- Blacks are more than three times as likely as Whites to be caught at forgery, counterfeiting, and fraud, and almost three times as likely to be caught at embezzlement;

- Blacks are more than 3 times as likely to be thieves as Whites;

- Blacks are more than 4 times as likely to commit assault as Whites;

- Blacks are almost 4.5 times as likely to steal a motor vehicle;

- Blacks are more than 5 times as likely to commit forcible rape as Whites;

- Blacks are over 8 times as likely to commit murder as Whites;

- Blacks are more than 10 times as likely to commit robbery as Whites;

- Nearly 25% of all Black males between the ages of 20 and 29 are in jail or on probation - this does not include those wanted or awaiting trial;

- For all violent crimes considered together, Blacks are almost 5.5 times more likely to commit violent criminal acts than Whites; all this according to the FBI Uniform Crime Report.

MASSIVE BLACK Disenfranchisement - A RESULT OF HIGH CRIME RATES

The exceedingly high criminality rate amongst American Blacks has ironically led to huge numbers of this racial group once again being disenfranchised.

These are statistics that cannot be ignored. This is what the black churches need to speak about to the young and old. This should not be this way when the black population only makes up 13% of America. These are the year 2000 year statistics todays statistics are mind blowing. I will post them if needed. This is what I was given at Mr. cosbys' speech while I attended college. It certainly shocked me being a black man and it also changed my life for the better.

African American Youth Are Treated Differently By the Juvenile Justice System

Drugs -

According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, among youths aged 12 to 17, the rate of current illicit drug use was 11.1 % among whites, and 9.3% among African Americans. In a previous year, the same survey found that white youth aged 12 to17 are more than a third more likely to have sold drugs than African American youth.

The Monitoring the Future Survey of high school seniors shows that white students annually use cocaine at 4.6 times the rate of African Americans students, use crack cocaine at 1.5 times the rate of African Americans students, and use heroin at the same rate of African Americans students, and that white youth report annual use of marijuana at a rate 46% higher than African American youth.

However African American youth are arrested for drug offenses at about twice the rate (African American 314 per 100,000, white 175 per 100,000) times that of whites, and African American youth represent nearly half (48%) of all the youth incarcerated for a drug offense in the juvenile justice system.

Weapons -

According to the Center on Disease Control's annual Youth Risk Behavior Survey, in 2001 whites and African Americans reported similar rates of carrying a weapon (whites 17.9%, African Americans 15.2%), and similar rates of carrying a gun (whites 5.5%, and African Americans, 6.5%).

African American youth represent 32% of all weapons arrests, and were arrested for weapons offenses at a rate twice that of whites (69 per 100,000, versus 30 per 100,000).

Assault -

According to the Center on Disease Control's annual Youth Risk Behavior Survey, African Americans report being in a physical fight at a similar rate (36.5%, versus 32.5% for whites), but were arrested for aggravated assault at a rate nearly three times that of whites (137 per 100,000, versus 48 per 100,000).

The existence of much larger racial and ethnic differences in arrest rates than in self-reported violence is a matter of great concern. On the one hand, there is no reason to expect similar distributions, because these measures were designed to assess different aspects of violence. But if both measures are valid and reliable, the discrepancy suggests that the probability of being arrested for a violent offense varies with race/ethnicity."

—Youth Violence: A Report of the Surgeon General, January, 2001. [12]

YOU CAN QUOTE STATS TO SUPPORT A MULTITUDE OF THINGS.

Anonymous said...

,But you see ,how can we blacks being only 13% of the population have so many arrests and convictions? When whites are nearly 80% of the population. This shouldn't be this way. 0nly 13 million blacks and 240 million whites and we still lead all statistics or at least equal to the stats of crime by whites. It goes on to say if this was broken down even further by listing the asian, indian, hispanic and mixed the blacks would be further ahead of the whites per capita. So there is no excuse for us blacks to be leading all statistics being only 13% of the population. So, we blacks need to admit to this and start doing something about it by owning this problem and stop making excuses'.

Seems like you are a very honest, fair, non-racist person with facts and data to "back up" your statements.

Maybe Roschelle would like to meet you also, since she won't make any phone calls to get the necessary data that disputes her perception of Greenville and its problems.
