Good thing that there are no issues here at home for her to be dealing with, good thing our economy is booming to pay for her trip, good thing we have bountiful staff in place to take up her slack....NOT!!!!
We have got to find someone to run against this crazy woman in 2012! Putting her back in office for a third time would be insane and a death sentence to Greenville.
If you know of anyone, who has good business sense, good marketing skills, good management skills and cares about Greenville...please!!! Let's start working NOW to get them in office in the next two years! Otherwise, be prepared to watch this city fail!

The citizens of Leland woke up from their funk and replaced their Diva mayor. After several years of a three ring circus of local politics, Leland is moving forward. The good thing is that they elected a qualified candidate. And he is a black gentleman.
So for all you conspiracy theorists out there you can forget the race card. It is all about being qualified and having the best of interest for the Town of Leland!
I must congratulate Leland citizens for pulling together to rid their local government and school administration of self-serving tyrants. It should send a positive message to other Delta communities that change CAN happen when people come together to the benefit of all, rather than voting by race or for special interest candidates.
As for Greenville's mayor, I am afraid that she will be a tough cookie to beat... until she is ready to move on to the next position that "Daddy" arranges. She is young and has time on her side... unlike Greenville!
The "Queen City" is sinking so fast that I doubt whether our "Captain's" presence will make a hair's breadth of difference. The majority of the voting public in Greenville is totally ignorant of the "issues", so they vote for the candidate who "looks" most like themselves. Regardless of who runs against Heather McTeer Hudson in the next election... this fact will not change... and believe me, it could get worse.
Greenville is a house divided, fixated in a political mentality circa, 1950. Propelling it into the twenty-first century will be a slow and arduous process!

Leland has done well, but...One more Diva to get rid of and our town may no longer look like a three ring circus!
I have tried to be supportive of Heather, even though I didn't vote for her. I think it's important to show some unity, but Heather must reciprocate. For instance, this weekend was a HUGE time! Walnut Street Block Party, art opening at Bass with artists from all over the state, Highway 61 Blues Fest, Holly Ridge Blues. All good for the local economy and places where the mayor should be seen, and what does she do? She and her hubbie put on some Summerfest event that focused on....what? I don't know if it drew any bit of the crowd away from these other events because the others were so well attended. And these events all appealed to a diverse group, not just an overwhelmingly black or white group. But doesn't it seem like the mayor should support community events over ones that her entrepreneurial spouse is promoting? Or at least help him choose a weekend when there's a little less going on? The man has to make a buck, sure, but he's putting his wife in a tough position.
If it ain't about her?? It ain't about her!
I started to write a book on the matter. But I decided toto just condence it it to what it really is... "Greenville Mississippi is a joke."
No, we are not a joke, to say that includes every citizen and that makes that statement totally false and insulting.
We are severely lacking in leadership and courage in our elected and economic officials to face the truth and take actions. It is easier to ignore and "not rock the boat" than to stand up for what counts for our city.
Yes, we struggle, but we still hold our heads up for our infamous heritage and our good citizens. Stay tuned.

Liston to this!! Down the road from me (Fava Dr) There is a house up for sale. The people still have their things in the house. Sunday A vehicle pulls up to the house and starts loading the things into their vehicle. The police was call and come and caught the people. Yea!!! So the Police load the guys up and take them two blocks and drop them off with no charges and left them!!! What!!
The owners did call the PD to see what was going on.

Miranda Rights for Terrorists
When 9/11 mastermind Khalid Sheikh Mohammad was captured on March 1, 2003, he was not cooperative. “I’ll talk to you guys after I get to New York and see my lawyer,” he said, according to former CIA Director George Tenet.
Of course, KSM did not get a lawyer until months later, after his interrogation was completed, and Tenet says that the information the CIA obtained from him disrupted plots and saved lives. “I believe none of these successes would have happened if we had had to treat KSM like a white-collar criminal – read him his Miranda rights and get him a lawyer who surely would have insisted that his client simply shut up,” Tenet wrote in his memoirs.
If Tenet is right, it’s a good thing KSM was captured before Barack Obama became president. For, the Obama Justice Department has quietly ordered FBI agents to read Miranda rights to high value detainees captured and held at U.S. detention facilities in Afghanistan, according a senior Republican on the House Intelligence Committee. “The administration has decided to change the focus to law enforcement. Here’s the problem. You have foreign fighters who are targeting US troops today – foreign fighters who go to another country to kill Americans. We capture them…and they’re reading them their rights – Mirandizing these foreign fighters,” says Representative Mike Rogers, who recently met with military, intelligence and law enforcement officials on a fact-finding trip to Afghanistan.
Rogers, a former FBI special agent and U.S. Army officer, says the Obama administration has not briefed Congress on the new policy. “I was a little surprised to find it taking place when I showed up because we hadn’t been briefed on it, I didn’t know about it. We’re still trying to get to the bottom of it, but it is clearly a part of this new global justice initiative.”
That effort, which elevates the FBI and other law enforcement agencies and diminishes the role of intelligence and military officials, was described in a May 28 Los Angeles Times article.
The FBI and Justice Department plan to significantly expand their role in global counter-terrorism operations, part of a U.S. policy shift that will replace a CIA-dominated system of clandestine detentions and interrogations with one built around transparent investigations and prosecutions.

They will expand their questioning of suspects and evidence-gathering to try to ensure that criminal prosecutions are an option, officials familiar with the effort said.
Thanks in part to the popularity of law and order television shows and movies, many Americans are familiar with the Miranda warning – so named because of the landmark 1966 Supreme Court case Miranda vs. Arizona that required police officers and other law enforcement officials to advise suspected criminals of their rights.
You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to speak to an attorney, and to have an attorney present during any questioning. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be provided for you at government expense.
A lawyer who has worked on detainee issues for the U.S. government offers this rationale for the Obama administration’s approach. “If the US is mirandizing certain suspects in Afghanistan, they’re likely doing it to ensure that the treatment of the suspect and the collection of information is done in a manner that will ensure the suspect can be prosecuted in a US court at some point in the future.”
But Republicans on Capitol Hill are not happy. “When they mirandize a suspect, the first thing they do is warn them that they have the 'right to remain silent,’” says Representative Pete Hoekstra, the ranking Republican on the House Intelligence Committee. “It would seem the last thing we want is Khalid Sheikh Mohammed or any other al-Qaeda terrorist to remain silent. Our focus should be on preventing the next attack, not giving radical jihadists a new tactic to resist interrogation--lawyering up.”
According to Mike Rogers, that is precisely what some human rights organizations are advising detainees to do. “The International Red Cross, when they go into these detention facilities, has now started telling people – ‘Take the option. You want a lawyer.’”
Rogers adds: “The problem is you take that guy at three in the morning off of a compound right outside of Kabul where he’s building bomb materials to kill US soldiers, and read him his rights by four, and the Red Cross is saying take the lawyer – you have now created quite a confusion amongst the FBI, the CIA and the United States military. And confusion is the last thing you want in a combat zone.”
One thing is clear, though. A detainee who is not talking cannot provide information about future attacks. Had Khalid Sheikh Mohammad had a lawyer, Tenet wrote, “I am confident that we would have obtained none of the information he had in his head about imminent threats against the American people.”

A friend who works at DRMC told me that two of the three Radiologists were "let go" this week by Ray Humphreys. Dr. Olivar has been there for many years and Dr. Smith just recently moved here. Why are we allowing Ray to run off qualified MDs to pad his pockets? There is no way Dr. Pryor can do it all... Just another reason to avoid DRMC!!! When are we going to realize that Ray is the one who needs to go?

Ray spends hundreds of thousands of dollars every year recruiting doctors and then won't renew the contracts of two of the most valuable physicians on staff. Duh??????
This is just another example of why DRMC will never be the "next great hospital".
We can afford helicopters and "special" doctors from Jackson for staff perks, but we cut back to ONE Radiologist for all imaging services in a medical center???

"The FDIC is eager to build upon our work with historically black institutions of higher learning," said Sandra Thompson, Director of the FDIC's Division of Supervision and Consumer Protection. "Historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) have had a profound impact on America's economy. Hundreds of thousands of HBCU graduates are now competent professionals contributing in government, business and the nonprofit sector of our economy. We must ensure that these strong economic engines continue."
The partnership will step up efforts to:
Increase the availability and quality of current financial education to students and faculty, as well as to members of the community, including small businesses.
Expand outreach on HBCU campuses to heighten students' awareness of and interest in professions within the banking industry and to increase recruitment for FDIC positions.
Create new ways to utilize HBCUs' extensive research and analytical abilities to assist with market research and other analytical projects to support new or ongoing community development initiatives.
"We're excited about this partnership," said Dr. Leonard Haynes, III, Executive Director of the White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities. "It represents a unique opportunity for historically black institutions, at a unique time in our nation's history. The economy, and what it takes to survive in it, is changing right before our eyes. Well, Obama's newest brain storm is to allow same sex couples working for the Federal govt. full benefits for their mates.....there are so many things wrong with that!
Here we are in major national debt, spending trillions with little hope to ever pay it off and now we are going to cover same sex mates. Can you imagine how many people will take advantage of this, especially if it gets beyond Federal jobs?? Two young women, one has insurance the other does not, so...who will prove that they are not lesbians?? Meanwhile,we pay for a roommate to get benefits under the cloak of same sex....he is insane!

Reacting to a rising tide of anger from gay and lesbian supporters at a series of slights and deferred promises, President Obama will tomorrow extend some benefits to same-sex partners of federal employees.
The move, which begins to mirror the policy of many large corporations, will have an immediate effect for many workers, but it is a deeply reactive response to a core Democratic group whose concerns have been festering for six months. The presidential memorandum -- scheduled for signing tomorrow at 5:45 p.m., may in the short term, give Joe Biden something positive to say at a June 25 fundraiser that has seen prominent guests drop out, a host sharply attack the administration, and which is expected to be marked by protests.
However, the Defense of Marriage Act prohibits the federal government from extending health and retirement benefits to same-sex couples, so the benefits are more likely to be marginal -- like relocation assistance.
The order is one of several lower-profile moves the administration had promised gay groups this month, but appears to have been announced this evening to stem rising protest.

Is there any culture left other than the Blues? NO. Please tell us all why your glass is half full... and please don't tell us it could be worse. I have been to Iraq!
I haven't tried to sell my house because I'm not trying to leave. This is my home. I have great friends here, I enjoy a wealth of cultural and social activities, my children received a fabulous (private) education here, my church home is ideal, my neighborhood is safe, and my spouse and I have secure employment. No gripes.
By the way, you may want to open your eyes to see the culture. It's all around you, but you have to be able to recognize it to appreciate it.

Pregnant teenagers, single family homes, people looking to sue at any opportunity so they can get "free" $, doctors leaving drmc or getting let go, downtown dwindling away, and a mayor who spends more time traveling than she does in her office.
