Palin... A Credit to McCain

Subject: An Assessment of Sarah Palin-from Alaskan-Chuck Bowman

I met and spoke with Sarah Palin about two years ago at our downtown Park Strip. It is a place for walking, carnivals, political outdoor things and such. She was cooking hotdogs at a fund raiser and introducing herself to the public as a Governor hopeful.

She came by and said the usual "Hi, I'm Sarah Palin and I am running for Governor"...and I expected her to keep on to the next person but she asked me who I was and what I did in Alaska and we ended up talking for 15 minutes about me, Air America (she was all agog!) and my career in the Army and AAM. She is a pilot (Super Cub) I'm told although all she told me about that was that she loved flying.

As I watched her over the next six months as she successfully ran for Governor I was really impressed. I was impressed greatly even before that after she resigned a good position (Alaska Gas and Oil Regulatory Commission) because a fellow Commission member (Chair of the Alaska Republican Party) misused their office and position. He was using the FAX, computers, printing room and all to promote the Republican endeavors while in a State job. That is a huge no-no in any government employment position.

She resigned and made her point and within weeks Randy Ruderich (the above bad guy) found his ass out on the street and a subsequent investigation found him guilty and he was fined $12,000. Small change actually but a giant point was made.Next she went after our most horrible Governor ever, Governor Murkowski, and damned if she didn't beat him! All of us here in Alaska , except the Democrats, are sick of our State's corruption. That fact was shouted to the heavens after she was elected with an overwhelming point spread.

After she got into office she started after corrupt legislators and with the FBI's help we've put four of them in prison, indicted six more and the "Corrupt Bastard's Club" as they arrogantly called themselves (even had hats made with CBC on the front!) suddenly found it no fun anymore. Club membership is now in the toilet!!

The current flap which has cost her a ten point loss of popularity (she's still 82%!) was over firing a popular Commissioner of Public Safety who is responsible for our Alaska State Troopers. She fired him for no STATED reason which was her prerogative as the Gov. He served entirely at her option. She and her whole family had a bad, bad experience with a rogue Trooper who was married to Sarah's sister. His name is Trooper Wooten. This dimwit Trooper had threatened Sarah's father (death threat!), threatened Sarah ("I'll get you too"), tasered his 12 year old stepson, drove drunk in his AST cruiser, got a pass by a fellow Trooper who stopped him for erratic driving a second time while in civvies and just a host of other things not yet released to the public. He got away with it and got another pass by the Commissioner's appointed AST Trooper Internal Affairs investigator with a tiny slap on the wrist. Five days off without pay to be exact!!This maverick Trooper is still on the payroll but only just. The Union intervening saved his malcontent ass. He'll yet get his I'm sure. Incredible heat is being heaped on the Troopers. Public heat, not the Governors office.

The Democrats had the audacity to appoint a obviously biased investigator, Rep. "Gunny" French (so called because he lied about being in the USMC while running for the Legislature) is a staunch liberal and under the orders of Senate President Lyda Green who hates Sarah. She hates Sarah because after being elected Governor Sarah told the whole Legislature in one of her first meetings with them that, quote; "All of you here need some Adult Supervision!!!". Sarah was seriously pissed and not afraid of anyone there. That played wonderfully well with Alaskan's after all of our corruption and after all of her successful battles against a seriously entrenched corrupt government here in Alaska . It pissed off the whole Legislature though! They have stayed pissed but also afraid of her because of her popularity.

She reminds me personally of our Alaska wolverine which will fight anything in it's path if it sees fit to do so. No respect at all for size or position. Wife Cindy is in this category too. Unfortunately.

In closing I must tell you that she is the best, most moral and most focused leader I've seen since President Reagan. I feel, really strongly, that like Alaska the rest of our country will love her within a few weeks. Put simply, she represents middle America like NO leader we've ever had. I think McCain made a totally brilliant move in choosing her. She's a maverick who is probably tougher and more focused than McCain himself....and she won't be a total "Yes Man" or more appropriately, woman. McCain will love her.

In 2012 she will be President.

Well, you have to admit that Sarah hit one out of the ball park on Wednesday! She is a fresh face among a long list of Bush "look-alikes", but behind the face, there is a brain! If Hillary had the oratory gifts of Sarah Palin, she would be her challenger in this election.

If you are looking for answers to our modern day plights, you should turn off your TV. None of the candidates have the answers, but ask us to support their "best efforts". Obama's theme is "change" but with little explanation of what the word means for most Americans. McCain's message is "experience", without any substantive resolutions to our current maladies.

Perhaps the brightest figures in this election are the VP candidates. I, like most, was unfamiliar with Sarah Palin prior to last week; however, she has become a formidable candidate with her speech, her voracity for speaking her convictions and for bringing no "Washington" baggage to the political arena.

Democrat or Republican, you have to admit that this woman publicly stated what we all wanted to hear! Maybe a breast-feeding, soccer mom is what the oval office needs. We have had much worse!

After reading her accomplishments, how far she has come in such a short period of time and service, over the last decade, she is awesome!

She is not only attractive; but an intelligent speaker, as well as a proven force to deal with.

She can only help! Who else is made for the job of clean up in the government than a Mother of five! No doubt, she has cleaned up a lot in her life time and now carries that skill into public office! Good for her and what a great role model for young women and little girls! Sure beats the heck of of Brittany Spears Carnival show!

Hilary will be back in four years, like a bad penny, but Sarah will be waiting for her!LOL

I predict the next election will be between these two women...I hope we all live to see it!

Thank God for Sarah Palin. I think we can all recognize that she will give Obama and Biden a run for their money!

"Thank God for Sarah Palin. I think we can all recognize that she will give Obama and Biden a run for their money!"

Really? I think John McCain is a formidable opponent for the two Dems, but for me, she drags his appeal down! -- what if something were to happen to John McCain on the campaign trail? Let's say, his cancer came back, or (God-forbid) an assassination ... would you vote for Palin as our president?

The vice-president's primary job is to be available as commander-in-chief at a moment's notice. I think Palin has a wonderful story, and she certainly has executive experience, but I wouldn't vote for her as president in a minute. She has zero grasp of foreign policy or anti-terrorism strategy...

She works as a match-up WITH McCain's foreign policy experience, but... if something were to happen to him?! (And that is a question worth asking as her running mate is a 72 year old, 3-time cancer survivor...)

I believe the appeal is up. Her speech kicked butt, and she bad ass!! Plus she is hot!!

Here we go again, a soccer mom is the best candidate. Yeah right!!! You have to admit it, if he's black, that means black people will only vote for him because he's black. Now we have a white soccer mom, and hooraaay for the women, we should just vote republican because we have a woman present. I'm white and I'm confused with how much people choose because of either race or gender. I'm neither democrat nor republican, but I can tell you I'm sick and tired of this war and I'm sick and tired of people who have more than others but think they know what's best for those that dont have as much. Yeah, Palin spoke well, Obama spoke well, but yet and still, those are only words. Wake up people, vote for the right reasons, not for a win for color or gender or great speeches or even being captured in war and having "7 houses", which most people can't even afford an apartment. This is a great accomplishment for both women and african americans, but the facts are present, our country is in serious trouble with loss of jobs, health care is down the drain, and also it seems as though education is the thing of the past. Speeches, yeah, they are great, but we have to look at our children's future. I can go on and on, but I'm not. Only God knows!!!! Stick to the facts, and not how "Hot" she looks because it's easy to read from paper to wow a crowd and that goes for both the democrat party and republican party. "BY A SOCCER MOM"

Kudos to Anonymous 7:21 for stating the obvious. And I, for one, will not watch Fox news because I want to get facts, not opinions from the Right.

I am sick of the war and many others are too, I am all for ending it soon....but not at the price of defeat or surrender. Lives are already invested and our soldiers are dedicated to the cause, Victory is the only way to leave Iraq.

As for Palin, she should be judged on her accomplishments, not her sex, not her number of children, not her age, etc...so far reports are showing her to be a force to deal with when it comes to overspending, increased taxation and corruption. Sounds good to me!

Anonymous said...

to 11:39... Ok where do you get your facts?? US or Star magazine?

Palin rocks. She has my vote. I would have much more confidence in a vote for her as president than Obama. I watch Fox news because they give both sides a fair billing. NBC and CNN are a different story.

To Anonymous 2:46---Isn't it sad that we all have to identify ourselves this way?

I get my news largely from Newsweek magazine, then from NBC in the mornings and CBS news in the evenings. Fox shows too much bias for my taste. I tend to trust the printed media a little more than the networks, as they have a bit more "editing room" to clearly specify their editorial intent.

Anonymous's attempt to label me as a tabloid reader is sad, but is also a relevant commentary on the current trend of poking the other guy in the eye before he pokes you.

Grow up, Dude. Be a part of the solution.

The person I will vote for will:

Support our troops to Victory and afterwards, in their need of assistance, once home from war, with medical asistance, education, job training, business investments and homeownership.

Bring back the jobs and industry sold and doled out to foreign nations.

Create more jobs and industry.

Pass laws and policies to enhance our country and its infrastructure.

Stop illegal immigration: deport the felons and all those presently illegal in the country to be required to be nationalized and become taxpayers or be deported as well, within a reasonable; but short period of time.

Encourage investment and growth in our economy and communities.

Invest in our teachers and public school systems!!!

Invest in our public protection security system, police, fire dept., state and federal.

Secure Social Security back to what it should be for now and future generations.

Allow for more tax incentives in "green" projects and in individual and business tax write offs for energy investments.

Control Credit companies from disabling the consumer with outrageously high interest rates that lead to bankrupticies. I would like to see a ceiling rate on all interest rates to prevent gouging the already oppressed consumer.

I would like to see "sweat equity" come back to the home buyer to allow for hard work as a downpayment to a home that would instill pride, as well as allow homeownership.

Stop wasteful spending or self serving spending.

Bring back and invest in the "Pride in America" and Products "Made in America"!!

I am sure there is more to consider, but for now this is a start!

Feel free to add to this wish list!

One of Them and One of Us
By Patrick J. Buchanan

One wonders: What did Sarah Palin ever do to inspire the rage and bile that exploded on her selection by John McCain? What is there either in this woman's record or resume to elicit such feline ferocity?

What did we know of her when she was introduced?

That she was a mother of five who had brought into this world a baby boy with Down syndrome, thus living her Christian beliefs. That she was a small-town conservative who had risen from mayor of Wasilla (Pop. 9,700) to be governor of a state twice the size of Texas.

That she was a reformer who had dethroned an Old Boys' Network by dumping a sitting Republican governor. That she had taken on Big Oil, taxed the companies and returned the money in $1,200 checks to every citizen of Alaska. And that she had cut a deal with Canada to build a pipeline to bring natural gas to her fellow Americans.

And, oh, yes. She was "Sarah Barracuda" -- a fierce high school athlete, a runner-up in the Miss Alaska pageant, a Feminist for Life and lifetime member of the NRA. Introduced by McCain, she praised Hillary Clinton and pledged to finish her work by smashing through the glass ceiling in which Hillary had made 18 million cracks.

What, in any or all of this, is there to justify the feral attacks within minutes of her introduction? What had she done to cause this outburst? Answer: absolutely nothing.

No. Sarah Palin is not resented for what she has done, but for who she is: a Christian conservative who believes unborn children are gifts of God, even those with birth defects, and have a God-given right to life.

Normally, the press is reluctant to rummage into the private lives of public servants, unless their conduct affects their duties or they preach virtues they hypocritically do not practice.

Yet, no sooner was Palin introduced, than the media went berserk over the news that her 17-year-old daughter is pregnant. As one in three births in America is out-of-wedlock and Hollywood celebrates this lifestyle, why did The New York Times and The Washington Post splash this "news" on page one above the fold?

How does Bristol Palin's pregnancy disqualify Sarah Palin to be vice president? Why is it even relevant?

They did it because they thought it would damage Sarah Palin in the eyes of a Christian community they do not comprehend.

So out of bounds was the media that Obama, in an act of decency, declared Palin's family off limits and reminded the media that he was himself born to a teenage single mom.

If one would wish to see the famous liberal double standard on naked display, consider.

Palin's daughter was fair game for a media that refused to look into reports that John Edwards, a Democratic candidate for president, was conducting an illicit affair with a woman said to be carrying his child and cheating on his faithful wife Elizabeth, who has incurable cancer. That was not a legitimate story, but Bristol Palin's pregnancy is?

Why did the selection of Sarah Palin cause a suspension of all standards and a near riot among a media that has been so in the tank for Barack even "Saturday Night Live" has satirized the infatuation?

Because she is one of us -- and he is one of them.

Barack and Michelle are affirmative action, Princeton, Columbia, Harvard Law. She is public schools and Idaho State. Barack was a Saul Alinsky social worker who rustled up food stamps. Sarah Palin kills her own food.

Michelle has a $300,000-a-year sinecure doing PR for a Chicago hospital. Todd Palin is a union steelworker who augments his income working vacations on the North Slope. Sarah has always been proud to be an American. Michelle was never proud of America -- until Barack started winning.

Barack has zero experience as an executive. Sarah ran her own fishing fleet, was mayor for six years and runs the largest state in the union. She belongs to a mainstream Christian church. Barack was, for 15 years, a parishioner at Trinity United and had his daughters baptized by Pastor Jeremiah Wright, whose sermons are saturated in black-power, anti-white racism and anti-Americanism.

Sarah is a rebel. Obama has been a go-along, get-along cog in the Daley Machine. She is Middle America. Barack, behind closed doors in San Francisco, mocked Middle Americans as folks left behind by the global economy who cling bitterly to their Bibles, bigotries and guns.

Barack has zero foreign policy experience. Palin runs a state that is home to anti-missile, missile and air defense bases facing the Far East, commands the Alaska National Guard and has a soldier-son heading for Iraq.

Barack, says the National Journal, has the most left-wing voting record in the Senate, besting Socialist Bernie Sanders. Palin's stances read as though they were lifted from Reagan's 1980 "no pale pastels" platform. And this is what this media firestorm is all about.

Anonymous 8:09---your illiteracy frightens me. Your vote counts just the same as mine.

More Palin at 8:38---oh, you terrify me with your quick references to Pat Buchanan. Holy roly moly....Cooler heads prevail. But where are they?

Anonymous said...

Let's be honest, the choices for President/Vice President are far from the best on either side of the parties.

Neither side has said or shown enough to be totally trusted, certainly neither side is perfect!

For all my years, I believe that this election the choices have to be the worst.

So what to do??? Not vote at all and throw away an American right?
Write in a vote for another, which is the same as throwing away the vote....or try and choose the safer of the two parties that will hopefully do at least some or most of what they promise..."hopefully" being the key word in that sentence.

I think the reason Palin has gotten so much attention is because we have all been pounded for these past months with the same old, same old empty promises and now suddenly we have a real twist to the election. For the first time in history, a female VP candidate!!! If she had been chosen by Obama, it would have been the same fanfare. I bet he wishes he had chosen Hilary for VP now!LOL His ego just would not let him do it, after those many months of bashing each other, plus Bill Clinton would have been a volatile wild card piece of baggage for her to bring to the party.

I predict that McCain/Palin will win, just for the fact of a chance of change of some kind!!! At least being a woman, we KNOW she will have to prove herself, more so than any man would have to, so there is a good chance that she might actually get some things done that have nevere been accomplished before.

Seriously, she is not the worst VP choice ever, just go back in history of VPs, eg. Al Gore, and I am sure you will find much worse.

Let's give her a chance to get to know her and then on election day, let your conscience be your guide of who is the best of the choices and the least dangerous to our country and its well being.

We can all hope for voters to vote the best for our country's needs and not vote based on race or gender....we can hope it, but it is not likely to happen.

Anonymous said...

"For the first time in history, a female VP candidate!!! "

You must not remember Walter Mondale and Geraldine Feraro????

Anonymous said...

I caught that too---but no one voted for Ferraro because she was paired with the forgettable Mondale. And where did he go? 12:36 is likely a very young voter!

WHAT'S NEW AT DRMC?

Anonymous said...

Nothing and that is a tired subject. I will say that I recently had to take a family member to the ER for a serious injury and when we walked in on Sunday of Labor day weekend, the place was packed, standing room only, with folks using it as a health clinic (most of them should have been directed to the free clinic, in fact a sign should be posted about the free clinic as an alternative choice for those who have no insurance, save them time and the county money!)and there was ONLY one person there to sign everyone in. It was awful! We got there around 2:00PM and finally made it out of there at 5:30PM, which in consideration of the crowd and my past experiences there, was faster than I expected. So much for new and improved!

Anonymous said...

you should feel lucky if you made it out that fast!!

Anonymous said...

Your statement is contradictory to itself. You talk about how packed the ER was, then complain that it took 3 hours. What do you suppose they do, take you first before the other people that were there first? Have you ever been to an ER in another town? 3 hours is nothing.

Anonymous said...

3 hours may be nothing in your book, but it is in mine. Having only one person registering patients for a weekend holiday in an emergency department is ludicrous. I believe that was the point the first contributor was making. But, again, DRMC is sacrificing jobs because they are broke. Better to short staff the working folks who take care of the patients than delete needless middle managment and PR positions.

Two MDs are now soon to be gone - an OB/GYN and an orthopedic. Who is next? I hear there are more to come. And think about it, not only will those two MDs be leaving, but their staff members are also affected. But, hey how 'bout that new NICU? Wow, what a waste of resources in such a critical time. Atta boy, Ray L.

Anonymous said...

Let me see if I understand this correctly. The hospital is losing 2 very much needed physician specialists due to the incompetence of the DRMC CEO and hospital board. Yet DRMC has an empty NICU that probably won't ever open and, from what I understand, DRMC is currently paying a director to run this empty NICU. Are they also paying for the imaginary NICU staff? This is so illogical and unbelievable. I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone!

Anonymous said...

I have to admit, as I said, it was faster to get out of there than my past experiences. The prior time that I was there with my poor Alzheimer's diseased relative, who had to wait on a hard gurney for 8 hours before finally being admitted to a room for a severe UTI, trapped in a cubicle with another dementia patient....I thought I would have to admit myself at the end of that day. Now that was bad!

This time, even last time, the staff were doing the best that they could do. I am not knocking the staff, I am knocking the fact of their limitations. One clerk??? Yes, that was my main point.

As for the others, yes, I do believe we were taken first due to the severity of my family member's injury. Thank goodness there is a protocol for urgency.

My second point is that there is now a free clinic and these potential patients without insurance should be made aware of this alternative, rather than creating bills that they will not be able to pay and becoming a financial burden on the DRMC. I am not saying that DRMC should turn anyone away without insurance, not at all, I am just saying the free clinic should be more publicized, to prevent the ER becoming a health clinic for those who have no other choices, the free clinic gives them a choice and most likely a shorter waiting period to endure.

And 3 hours is a long time to be sitting and waiting in a 5 X 6 cubicle/room for attention or test results, in comparison to my last 8 though, it was an improvement. There just were not enough physicians on staff to be able to get it covered any faster.

At one point, we actually had been forgotten. I suspected so and went to investigate. The nurse was startled to see that we were still there and finally went to get the physician with the results! I hate sitting in those rooms with the door closed just for that reason, out of sight and out of mind is very true.

It probably depends on when his contract is up. I doubt they will stay here. I do know, for a fact, that productivity letters from DRMC went out to all the DPP physicians a few weeks ago.
